Hello all, I'm new. Be nice.
So I just finished listening to Cryptum on audiobook. The armor of the Forerunners really stuck in my mind, and I decided to paint it before moving on to the next installment in the saga.
I studied Forerunner architecture a lot in order to nail the aesthetic I wanted. Although I have to say, the majestic towers and rigid constructions proved more difficult than I imagined to turn into more sculptural pieces such as armor... I also painted a near nude (sporting only a pair of fashionable undies) Forerunner standing beside the armor to portray their alien anatomy as I imagined it. Perhaps its Bornstellar, prior to his brevet mutation.
There's also a picture of the Warpsphinxes guarding Didact's Cryptum, over at my blog, for those of you who are interested.
Bam!

Needs more pointless floating pieces around the shoulders

The armour looks really good, but the forerunner is lacking any fur...

The armor looks sweet

It looks very well man and the skills you have should get you far but i will point out somethings to help you make this more accurate. Forerunners look vastly different depending on the caste in addition to the sex. I can't tell what you intended this one to be as the armor doesn't have any indications but overall it looks too human. You got the noise down but left out the ear sacks. Lack of fur,and qills. The number of fingers varies by caste as well. The Didact (warrior servant, promethean) had 6 digits while Genemender (lifeworker) had 7. I don't understand how that is suppose to work or why the librarian had 5 fingers but i noticed this in the novels. I can't tell how tall this being is but male forerunners are generally 7 feet plus and they al seem to be muscular no mater the caste. Nothing else is coming to mind and again you did a very good job i just wanted to give constructive criticism. If anything it looks a lot like a maniplar than an adult forerunner.

Shouldn't there only be 2 toes? Or is it confirmed that they actually have 5? Also draw the Primordial, the Forerunner Capital, and what a Pheru might look like. Maybe also what a young fit San'Shyuum looks like.

Edited by Spartan Ken 15: 7/12/2013 3:14:33 PMForerunners I thought were supposed to look like Elves from LOTR and were very similar to humans. The only reason Didact looked ugly was because he was mutated.

Where are the floaty floaties?

Thats very cool keep up the good work

Amazing job.
-
Very nice indeed
-
I like the armor it's very classic Halo :)
-
Nice!
-
Nice, but the forerunners have patches of fur on their shoulders, IIRC.
-
Nice art. Technically incorrect given how Forerunners have "hair-quills" and "ear sacs."
-
The armor looks like you'll be unable to move at all...
-
Those metal undies look uncomfortable.
-
Good drawings!
-
That's impressive. You should draw the Timeless One.

Seems accurate, although the main body seems a little too "together"
