I was replaying through the COD4 campaign when I realised that I actually enjoyed it. The timed missions were tense and, in the parts that I couldn't remember from last time, I found myself surprised about the plot twists. The game has dedicated servers full of fun mods (PC only); cheats unlocked by gathering intel and a bonus mission at the end which can only be described as awesome.
Why is this game so much better than MW2? The budget for the sequel was huge and it was made by the same people (everybody started leaving IW after MW2).

3 year necro bump
-
COD4 had the best multiplayer But MW2 was also very good
-
No ultra killstreaks that completely dominate a game and reward the player for camping on one spot. MW2 was worse, and MW3 is just complete crap.
-
CoD 2 is the best CoD but MW2 was abysmal compared to CoD 4.
-
COD4 and MW2 are both awesome.
-
No stupidly overpowered kill streaks and not every map is designed for snipers.
-
The game (MW) is waaaaaaay more balanced than any of the titles that followed it.
-
MW2 is best CoD, imo.

Deedly Doo! Deedly Doo! Deedly Deedly Deedly Doo! ah, great cheat indeed. That's when Modern Warfare got it's 12 and under fanbase, and it all went down from there.
