This part really stuck out to me: [Jones is talking about playing Destiny with his 5 year-old son]
“There are guns and there’s violence in Destiny,” he replies after a thoughtful pause. “It’s very interesting to see my son’s reaction to violence. But I’m very happy that he can play Destiny. It’s not over the top or scary for him. I’m not ashamed of it. It’s something that…” He pauses to consider the question again. “Maybe if it wasn’t a game that I made, I would have waited another couple of years, but I’m very proud of what we’re doing in that we… What am I trying to say? That it’s not violently pornographic or something.” [Editor’s Note: Bungie has publicly stated that they are aiming for a “T” rating from the ESRB for Destiny.]
Sadly IGN doesn't give a source for that editors note, was that perhaps based off the contract with Activision? Because all the trailers have been saying "Anticipated to be Mature."

Dated May 23rd... E3: June 10th... GDC: March 28th... IGN Article dated July 8th It must be the contract, I don't understand what other cause there would be for discrepancy, and I never have found and still can't find any hard evidence pointing either way. Maybe their mindset in building Destiny is to aim for a Teen rating. If we overshoot, so be it. Let's try to keep it within T, though. I guess it's possible that was made known to IGN at some point in time around the interview... They couldn't have just assumed based on that ancient contract, right?
