Am I forced to abandon my old bnet account year marker?

Okay, so here's my dilemma. I did what everyone else has seemed to do, which is to end up (accidentally) with 2 accounts. When the beta test user research stuff started, for whatever reason I couldn't sign in with my XBL account, so I just went ahead and signed on with my gmail, assuming I could link it later, only to find out that I couldn't. I finally looked it up today, after seeing the sweet sweet loot drop given to long time members. I finally got the XBL gamertag unlinked from the old bnet and on to the new one. HOWEVER, the years of bnet service obviously did not come with it. Here's the problem with this. I like the new username (threesided vs. Threesided) and this new username has garnered quite a few followers and is now attached to the art community I help run. So I feel like I've screwed myself out of having the best of both worlds. Either I keep the old account and lose all the notoriety of the new one, or lose out on any possible perks of being an older member ( my old account is 4 years old). Does anyone know, if I transfer my gmail to the old bnet, will it bring the followers and such with me, or am I stuck basically giving up the 4year badge?

Ultimately, it's your choice. Since you can just change your username entirely now, that's not a factor in this equation. You have: >Old account, veteran loot, no followers >New account, no loot, but you have followers Moving email addresses/account links doesn't move your followers to different accounts (you can't "merge" accounts). Think of a "follow" as a "subscription". People who follow you subscribed to Account A. They won't be moved over to Account B if you decide to make the switch. If you want the best of both worlds, it will take you some work, but it's possible. Here's how you do it - Move everything to your old account. You'll get the "loot" that's been disbursed. Relink your accounts, rename your profile to what you want (Threesided?) and get into your groups etc. If you want to retain your followers, the easiest of doing that is Messaging all of them and letting them know you're moving accounts. This might take some time, but luckily you can message up to 7 people in one conversation at once. By doing this you may not get every single person to move over for various reasons. In short: It's possible to make the move, but since you want to keep your followers intact, it's going to be a stretch. The other option is to have it split like it is now. Ultimately, it's up to you.
