How would you rate it?
I originally saw it from a shaky cam recording online, and I thought it was pretty good minus Harley and Trevor.
I saw it again yesterday. I was debating whether or not I should type up a rant about it, but got too lazy in the end.
Long story short: Aside from the humor and RDJ, it was complete sh1t. The worst part about it wasn't the Mandarin or the shoe horned kid, IMO. It was the final battle with Killian. It just felt really mediocre. Maybe I'm just spoiled by General Zod, but the battle felt like it was building up to a fight that just sorta fizzles out. As if the climax was nonexistent.
What do you think Flood? How was IM3?
Oh, and this? This is a straight up lie.

A solid 7. Didn't like how the Iron Patriot didn't play a key role until the climax. Overall, I enjoyed the second much more.
-
Haven't seen it yet.
-
It was alright. 7/10
-
You didn't like Harley? That was the best part of the movie for me. The child actor wasn't annoying and there was good chemistry between Harley and Stark All in all I would give it a solid 7/10.
-
If you're not a big comic book fan like me, then it's good. I wasn't butthurt about the whole Mandarin thing, I actually liked that they did that.
-
It was crap.
-
Basically mediocre-to-good. About a 6, I guess. Good: -Tony Stark is emotionally scarred from the events of Avengers -Tony Stark has to make do with crappy, busted Iron Man suit -Good variety of set pieces (Tennessee kitchen/town fight --> saving people falling from a plane) -Some snappy (perhaps to a fault) dialogue Bad: -Guy Pearce's character was embarrassingly cliche. -"Wait, why isn't Tony flying all of his Iron Man suits around his house? He just dared a renowned terrorist to kill him on live TV. And then he wears the new prototype suit, and it's later established that the suit's weapons weren't ready. Why wouldn't he use one of the 4 dozen other suits he has?" -"How did the Iron Man suit run out of power? I thought Tony Stark's heart powered it? His heart seems fine right now, so why is the suit off?" -"Wait, so heating up Iron Patriot will damage it? How come this is said and never brought up again? I know Tony kills what's-his-face with a shot through the chest, but it's never established that Tony knows about the weak-spot, (if the weak-spot exists at all). -"Oh, so he's just been using a busted-out Iron Man suit up until the end for, why? I thought the point of blowing up Stark's house was that he *didn't* have any more gadgets. Could none of those new suits blast through that big metal door with like 3 rocks on it? They had to wait for some guys with brooms? What?" -"So he just blows up the incredibly useful, incredibly expensive superhero robots for... no reason? Romantic fireworks? Tony, your problem was *supposed* to be that you almost died and your worldview has been shaken from the foundations. Sure, building suits was a coping mechanism, but it was a *damn good* coping mechanism that made everyone safer. This fixes nothing and ruins everything." -"Wait, why would Iron Man even have a remote-self-destruct program for all his suits? Aren't, you know, *people* supposed to pilot these? Do you have an eject/parachute system too? No, because it didn't eject Pearce. Okay, so do you at least have to give like a password? No, he just says "blow suit 43." What? Gee, Tony I sure hope a bad guy never says the word "blow" around you, or you're bacon." -The "emotionally scarred" point just kinda dissolves away for no real reason -Twist was unexpected, but the villain we get to replace Kingsley is lame -"Okay, so these are all just US military amputees? Wouldn't they be, like, incredibly dedicated to their country or something? Did they all get mind-control chips that made them assholes?" -"Oh, I guess we're just doing anything at the ending to make us forget that we dumped the actual character conflict around half-way through and never returned to it. Blowing up suits? No one hated the suits, and the suits weren't doing anything wrong, so it resolves nothing. Fixing his chest? His chest / his being Iron Man had nothing to do with anything in the movie. He might as well have gotten it taken out any time for all the meaning it has here. What is this maudlin, meaningless crap? Is this some kinda Adam Sandler flick?"

Batman movies are better out of 10

Edited by ROBERTO jh: 7/1/2013 8:08:17 PMI'd give it a 6 or 7. The humor and some of the action was great, but coming from someone who has never read a comic in my life--and already knowing full well what the Mandarin "twist" was at the end because a friend told me--I STILL found his portrayal (or lack thereof) to be so asinine as to be borderline retarded. I knew about his backstory, how he's Iron Man's Joker in the comics, and all of the trailers built him up as this really badass menace who could get to Stark even in his own home. And then the movie itself had this really effective way of not showing the Mandarin in anything beyond a shaky cam found-footage style. Everyone just talked about him, how afraid they were of him. But all of this amounted to nothing more than an awkward joke; the trailers and marketing were bordering on false-advertising really. It's the first MCU movie that really made me hate it; they've had some "just okay" films in the past, but overall its a great series. But they generally treat their characters with more respect than this. Other than the humor, it all came off more as an "old Marvel" movie, or old comic book movie. Like it was just going through the paces without trying to be interesting. IMO it doesn't live up to the MCU's standards.

Boring, drawn out, cliche bullshit. Im sick and tired of RDJ's Tony Snark and the rest of the movie was utterly forgettable.
-
8/10 would watch again.

Edited by Felicia402: 7/1/2013 7:13:52 PMI don't think it was as bad as people made it out to be. It seems to me the Mandarin twist was people's biggest beef with the movie, which I completely understand. I get they done it to have a "wtf?! I didn't see that coming!" moment, but it just didn't play out well, and left the movie with a villain we've seen dozens of times already. In my opinion, they never done anything we've never seen in the previous Iron Man movies already. I felt with the third, they're just getting played out. I was more looking forward to CA2 & Thor 2 anyways, so I wasn't overly disappointed. Still a good enjoyably movie. I'd give it like a 7/10, but I enjoyed Star Trek Into Darkness so much more.
-
10/10 would bang
-
8/10 would see again.
-
I thought it was good. I liked the twist but the end fight was pretty lacluster. Also I hate it when kids are put into movies just for that cute factor.
-
Would watch on a Sunday night if there's nothing else on/10. In other words, 4 or 5 at best.
-
Do we really need a thread about this? It sucked BALLS and that's all that needs to be said. Everyone thinks it too. Let the thought of Iron Man 3 die.
-
it was a load of balls, to be honest. none of the action sequences were any good apart from the initial mansion attack, i suppose. the story was utter crap to say the least and the movie made use of a crappy child actor. as if it wasn't bad enough already. to be fair, the kid was the butt of some of the funnier jokes, but that doesn't redeem much. RDJ played a great iron man again, but it's a shame the rest of the movie sucked.
-
It was an enjoyable watch. One I'd watch again. However, it did kind of piss me off. I mean, for a movie that could be the last Iron Man movie, there were far too many "why would you do this!?" moments in the film and to add on top of that the climax of the film left alot to be desired. Here's hoping Marvel and RDJ decide to go in on a fourth film and the director does it right.
-
Solid 8/10
-
lolmarvel
-
strong 8. I really liked it. I'm one of the few people that liked IM2. I wish they didn't do what they did with the Mandarin. He coulda been really cool. but no...they just had to screw that up.
-
I give it a 8
-
Flaming Wolverines, fake Mandarin, Tony destroys all Iron man suits, gets all the shrapnel surgically removed(he couldn't do that before?), Rhody wearing a Polo shirt and khakis on a deadly mission.
4/10 It was good when I first watched it, but I started to think about it... I got really pissed.
-
Oh yeah, the soundtrack was really nice.
-
I didn't have any disdain for the movie like everyone else does, i even have some avid Marvel fans that didn't like what it was too much, but for myself it takes a really bad movie for me to be disgusted with what i watched. The ending fight scene was a little dry because suddenly Iron Man gets thrown around and melted down like his armor hasn't taken heavier blows before, but it was still a decent movie.
