Yes the act was a little extreme, but in the end it was justified. The Jedi attempted an illegal coup against the legal head of state of the Republic just because of his religion. To make that even worse Windu was going to kill the guy without a trial just because "he's to dangerous" and mainly because of his religion.

I see. So it would be justified killing American colonists since they moved over religion and rebelled? COol to kill the Jews and minorities because of religion and that many illegally fought the government during WWII. All those slaves fleeing from Egypt? How dare they illegally disregard authority! They think they can break the law just because of their religion? Absurd, right?

Edited by EshraytheGrey: 6/28/2013 9:30:39 PMI tend to sympathize towards rebels and chaotic good characters, as I am technically chaotic good myself. As for the whole Order 66 thing, Yeah, I gotta go with the Jedi on this one. Sidious may have been the head of state, but he was only using the Empire as a conduit for his own power and exploit the law and his rule to his own benefit. Point goes to Luke and the Gang. However, I never did find the Republic Jedi Order that good either, the fact that the Jedi and Sith have fought for thousands if not tens of thousands of years, so the whole Mace Windu thing could be something like 2 rivaling clans, Hatfields and McCoys, Rangers vs Celtics. Rivaling Clans of which I cannot sympathize toward either of. Mace Didn't want to kill Sidious based on faith for the most part, it was because he was Sith, a part of that Rival clan. By the by, are there any Star Wars characters out there that use the Dark Side of the force for good? rather than Evil?

It was unjustified, the Jedi should not have been executed.
-
Politcally? Arguable. The Jedi were staging an illgeal coup de'tat against him, but he did have nearly unlimited power and he was far past the end of his term. Morally? No. He was turning the Republic into a totalitarian empire, which goes against everything the Republic and Jedi stood for. Plus, Palpatine would have done the same thing with the Sith if a Jedi were in charge, so the religion argument is out of the question.

Edited by Edmi Wohusee: 6/28/2013 9:54:59 PM
#unlimitedpower
I agree on the Mace Windu part. I never liked him, he always appeared to be too unforgiving, even a bit arrogant. I don't agree with how he was going to kill him. It was an irrational decision, I mean, they then had plenty of proof right there. However, I think the 'illegal coup' was justified. He was going to and did murder many, many innocent lives. A society that does not question its leaders is a doomed one.

lolStarWars Star Wololololors

The Jedi Order was bloated and misguided by that point, so I don't exactly feel a lot of pity for them. They were using a slave army of clones for -blam!- sake.
-
Not as much as I like Order 69..... Wait for it.....
-
The Jedi were always the real enemy. They deserve to blasted.
-
Mace Windu made sense. He controlled the courts, a trial wouldn't work
-
You gotta realize the emperor started the clone wars though. It was always his plan so for him to win it was justified and an inevitability. Mace windu was a thug though, he lives by the law of the streets.
-
Legally, Palpatine was correct. But he made the rules, so...
-
Except for when the Head of State illegally gives himself longer terms, creates an illegal army, controlled both factions in the war, Committed genocide against a religion, and made himself dictator.

Only a Sith deals in absolutes.

Sith aren't good people, let's make that clear. Most of them, at least.

Edited by RazorRyan: 6/28/2013 8:42:25 PMHe was a sith lord. It would have been one thing if he was just a simple apprentice but he was the lord of what was left of the sith empire. The Jedi couldn't have let him live. On top of that, he was in office longer than he should have been. The counsel let him have emergency powers because of the war, but since the war ended and he didn't step down well i guess it was acceptable to put him down.
-
I agree with you, but his time was overdue. And Windu & team didn't go their to kill him, they went their to arrest him. It was only after Sidious attacked them did Windu see the need to end it.
-
When the guy is shooting lightning at you, because you refuse to let him tear down democracy, I think it's safe to say he's too dangerous to let live.
-
NO I DO NOT -blam!-ING AGREE WITH YOU, YOU WHORE! I DON'T CARE ABOUT THE REFERENCE! YOU SHUT YOUR WHORE MOUTH WHEN IT COMES TO ORDER 66!
-
Looooooool I see what you did there Kudos!
-
A little extreme? It was genocide. Palpatine was no different to the Jedi, probably a lot worse.
-
lol, because of his religion? He planned to turn a Republic into an Empire. His religion is irrelevant.
-
Totally justified
