So I have two old laptops that I want to get rid of: one, a hulking monstrosity of an Acer with a 17" screen, won't turn on.
The other, a more svelt model, has knackered hinges, to the point where the plastic casing of the screen is full detached from the body of the device, and the only thing holding it together is wires. It also won't turn on, and I'm pretty sure I've got rid of the chargers for both.
Now what?
dad sez: lol off curse dey wont werk w/owt there chargers, Dumkopf.

Salvage is your answer.

As daza said, open those bitches up and pull all the parts you want to keep out, including the HDDs - you don't want some lowlife going through scrap heaps looking for complete PCs with personal information on. Take dem bitches apart and then throw them away. Unless you want to try to get the Acer to work again, in which case, find yourself a charger and see if it'll actually turn on, or take it to a PC World diagnostics centre. They'll tell you what to do with it.

Take the disk(s) out and keep them before you throw the rest out.
