So I was downstairs on my laptop and my grandmother comes in saying there's a guy on the phone who she can't understand.
I pick up the phone and say, "Hello?" I then heard (In an Indian Voice) "Hello sir we are calling you today because we got an alert from the Microsoft 'Main' server that your computer is compromised and that you have a windows computer " (Good Odds)
I was like damn, but at the same time when the hell does Microsoft ever call you? So I just said, "Ok?"
The Indian guy then says, " Sir, are you on your computer desktop right now?"
Me, "Yeah, I'm on my desktop" (By this time I knew 100% it was a scam but played along to see how far he'd go)
I will now omit my "Ok's" and "Can you repeat that again's"
Indian guy, "We need to clean your computer to remove these threats. Go to the very left lower button with the four flags on it and click it. After that type 'Event Viewer" into the box under "All Programs". [In Event Viewer] go to the very left and click 'Even Viewer Local' and click it. Then click 'Custom Views' and double click 'Administrative Events'"
After the list loaded he asked for the number of errors so I said about 39,000 of which 95% are from Bonjour. (He sounded shocked by the amount lol)
He then says, "Press the Windows key and the R key at the same time and enter www.xprtpc.com and press Ok"
At this point that website popped up and he told me to go to the downloads link and click the first download image.
At this point I'm like there's no way I'm downloading an .exe file
I asked him how did you find out my computer was 'infected'? His response was the Windows main server told his company so that's why he contacted me to 'fix' my computer and that I needed to download that program.
I told him straight up I'm not downloading it and that this sounds like a scam to hack into my computer. At this point he kinda got upset and said, "If I wanted to hack your computer I could do it from here, I have all your information here but I dont want to. I'm not trying to scam or hack you but to help you. Download the program so that we can continue"
I told him I'm not computer ignorant and that I'm super computer savvy and at that point he hung up.
Well that was my first experience with a computer/phone scam attempt.

Have any of you guys ever had anything similar happen?

Joke's on you, OP. They charged you $17,000 for every minute you spent on the phone with them.
