I played a few games of Halo 3 today, and it made Halo 4 look like such a joke. I hope having H3 free on the marketplace brings more players in.

Halo 4 has been awful since launch.
-
I like it with these new updates, something does feel a bit off though.
-
I hated going back to Halo 3 after Reach beta and I couldn't bare it anymore after Halo 4. I've never played a game that is as laggy as Halo 3 or that has characters moving at a snail's pace like in 3 or a game that has smaller FoV than Halo 3.

It's a good game, by all means. It's just a terrible Halo game.

I can't lie, I find Halo 3 Matchmaking basically unplayable now. I don't play Reach or 4 either, though. I'm all campaign, baby.
-
I agree. I still play Halo 3 and compared to Reach and Halo 4 it's not even on the same level.
-
I agree.
-
Halo 4 and Halo Reach have the best multiplayer out of all of the Halo games.
-
Can someone tell me what is so bad about Halo 4? I thought Reach and Halo 4 were much better than Halo 3 anyway
-
This thread would have been much more popular five months ago. But yes, Halo 4 is inferior. Even post-update, it still lacks the sweet Halo sugar that we all crave.
-
It isn't the best halo ever for sure, but I still like it.

Although I somewhat agree with your post, I'm going to come to H4's defense. (Note: I've been itching to have a discussion about this, so sorry if this response seems like overkill.) H4 is 343i's first game. Ever. That being said, it's an incredible game. It's still fun to play. Maybe the multiplayer is not as fun as H3, or the Campaign is not as good as Reach's (In my opinion), but for a first debut? Wow. I recently had seen a video on YouTube that was titled "Halo 4 is bad". Obviously, I came to 343's defense and said that 343 did a great job for their first time. Someone, who shall remain anonymous, replied with "We don't want a Halo game by 343, we want one by Bungie." This astonished me, because I couldn't believe how selfish this person was being. To my knowledge, Bungie wanted to start a fresh, new franchise at the end of H3. When MS said no, Bungie agreed to do 2 more games (ODST and Reach). After that, their contract expired and they began working on Destiny (or continued working on it). So, basically, Bungie wanted to stop making Halo after 3. Which makes sense, I would too. But instead of letting Bungie make a new franchise that would flourish with passion, this person wanted Bungie to slave over a franchise that would likely be getting progressively worse with each title. And we have seen this progression from H2 to Reach (H3 wasn't bad, but we can all agree H2 was better). So I guess my question is: do a lot of people think this way? Am I overreacting?

Well no shit Halo 4 sucks. It's incredibly easy to excel in also, after I spent 2 months not playing the game and playing things like ME2 and Borderlands 2, I played a game to see if it was any different. I went 15-1 on my first game. Played two games after that, had similar records in those. It just isn't fun and has no replay value. After those games I got bored and played BL2 some more.

Wait wait wait wait wait. Halo 3 is going free to play, or just "free"? When did this happen? Can I play with a silver account?
-
I actually prefer the feel of reach over halo 3 but I had way more fun in halo 3 since it had a ranking system. I still like the feel of halo 2 the most though because I played it so damn much. Whenever I play it I instantly feel at home. I never have to relearn the timing for jumps or anything. It's permanently etched in my muscle memory. There is nothing about halo 4 that I like. Even the menu layout sucks.

You still need the DLC to play 99% of the game. Smart move Microsoft: 1. Makes popular game free 2. DLC needed to play game 3. People buy the DLC 4. ????????????? 5.Profit

Halo 3 is still pretty bad even in comparison to Halo 4/Reach.
-
yeah I'm looking forward to the population increase in July. Will be epic.
-
same here hope halo 3 population goes up since it will be free
-
Halo 3 is so laggy now though. If they make it free I hope the make the game stable again. I played it the other night and I was staring at black screens half the time. Don't get me wrong, it's a good game. Great maps, great campaign, but the multiplayer got worse and worse the lower the population went.

I loved it a lot more than Halo 3 and couldn't stand going back to Halo 3 when I did.
