To my understanding, the Wii U is similar in capabilities to the Xbox 360 and the PS3. Why is Destiny being released for those consoles, but not the Wii U?

Wow! All it takes is to look at the replies to this topic to see that maturity and video games do not go together. The main people saying Nintendo consoles are for kids are the ones behaving like immature little brats themselves on the internet. How does someone wanting Destiny on WiiU hurt them in any way? I agree with SurprisedRICK in that there really isn't any logical reason why Destiny shouldn't be on Wii U. Especially if it is coming to PS3/XB360. I own a Wii U, and I enjoy playing games on the hardware. If Destiny was to be announced on WiiU. That is the platform that I would be buying it for. I really don't plan on buying a new console anytime soon, so if there is no WiiU version announced, and the PS3 version doesn't look decent. Maybe I won't buy Destiny at all.

wow all this Nintendo bashing .... ill put it this way , if your mommies and daddies hadn't played NES in their basements as kids you wouldn't have shit to play with now , cause video games in their present form would never exist . Nintendo influenced multiple generations of gamers , and are the main reason you have to thank for home consoles, so bear that in mind the next time you brats wail on its games....

It just won't work on the Wii u
-
The Wii and Wii U aren't very online-capable consoles.
-
I don't exactly think that the wii u is powerful enough to handle the sheer might of destiny
-
It's a cost thing at the end of the day. Activision will put Call of Duty on the Wii U and it will sell enough to make it worth the cost of money and time. Treyarch has experience porting the COD games to the Wii U anyways. With Destiny there's no guarantee it will sell well. Third party games don't do well on Nintendo home consoles. Bungie would have to put the time into porting it to Wii U or get someone else to.
-
I think it has to do with the lack of knowledge of the Wii U platform. Is it possible? Most likely, but it involves investing money and hiring people who know the platform. Not to mention Destiny is a game that focuses on online multiplayer/co-op. Nintendo's online is not the most reliable thing in the world. And this is coming from a big Nintendo fan... If the game isn't even coming out on PC initially, my guess is a Wii U version is not very likely to happen.

I have a theory as to why. I think it has something to do with generation continuity. Destiny will likely be the last game available on both current gen and next gen platforms. Destiny's sequel will likely only be on ps4/one/PC. Bungie would not longer be limited by current gen platforms and would be free to fully exercise next gen console's capability. We can assume (based on common logic and leaked material) that a sequel will come in no shorter than 2 years. We'll be well into the next gen by there and people who now play on current gen will be able to pick up on the respective next generation versions of the console they play on. Assuming Destiny game out on the Wii U, it's sequel would be expected to be supported by Nintendo's console too. But the Wii U is just about as powerful as currrent gen consoles and isnt even comparable. Bungie doesnt want to be weighed down by current gen anymore. No one does. By the time they are ready for their sequel, there will likely be no Wii U successor and they would be expected to support those who played Destiny on the Wii U. There'd be something of a rift (all assuming they dont chose to hire a separate team to create a Wii U compatible Destiny 2 and leaving other consoles unaffected.
Wii U
Anyone who wants a game on that utter garbage (or consoles in general really) should have all of their electronic devices taken from them and fed to to donkeys.
-
The Wii U is a generation 8 gaming platform while the Xbox 360 and ps3 are generation 7's so anything the 360 and ps3 can handle the Wii U surely can.
-
It is a profit risk. It costs money to develop for an entire new console.
-
1: the controller is evil 2: That would cost more than they could make off of the Wii U 3: it would look something like Half Life 1....
-
It wouldn't get a lot of sales on it, anyway.
-
Difficulty in porting it I'd imagine - 360 and PS3 are pretty similar, PS4 and X1 will be pretty similar to each other as well, Wii U is very different.
-
Who in their right mind would buy a Nintendo wii U... TO PLAY FPS's??
-
I can just imagine Nintendo trying to "friendly" destiny up. "When your opponents die, they dissolve into tokens! Toooooookeeeeeens! And our game doesn't have any blood! If you want, you can make FRIENDS with the final boss! He's great at croquet on the weekends!" Not that I have anything against Nintendo.
-
It wouldn't work well with the gamepad
-
Bungie is not worthy enough to make games for the master race console.
-
Because nintindo is lame
-
Well because of this

Because of this

Wii U is nothing like ps3 and Xbox 360. Have you played COD on the wii. It sucks.
-
Cause they can't handle the truth!
-
I feel like no one in the comments criticizing the Wii U has ever even played one from the things they are saying. My best guess is it probably isn't a hardware problem but lack of interest from consumers/Nintendo
-
Because the Wii U is garbage.
