When the subject of titles comes up you hear almost immediately people saying how they thought the Mythics were bullying the lesser members.
I never experienced that, and I've been active for 3 years, perhaps this was more common in the days before 2010?
I always took it that this is a website full of gamers, who are passionate people, maybe people think that if someone of a high rank disagrees with them, they are being bullied.
So were there actually widespread cases of "I'm better than you because I'm blue."???
(personally I found mythic members to be helpful when seeking advice by posting a question thread, usually the answer in blue was the correct one)

Edited by Hylebos: 6/7/2013 6:06:09 PMIt depends. Can you really be elitist to an insignificant speck of dirt as you stomp all over it? I don't know about you, but I hardly even notice motes of dust. ;)
-
I don't know. I don't remember trying to be elitist either. I do remember people telling me just because I am a mythic member doesn't mean I am better than them even though I never once acted like I was. Maybe people thought we were but we weren't?
-
"Were" bless, he thinks mythics dont exist any more
-
"Mythics are the heroes Bungie deserves, but not the ones it needs right now.... ...They're silent guardians, watchful protectors, blue knights..."
-
It's not so much 'bullying' as it is enforcing the social order. >.>
-
Here it is, Plain and Simple: '04 or bust.
-
Some of the newer members might not even know what a mythic is. Yikes.
-
Oh wow.. I just posted a topic asking the community if they'd want this sort of thing back.. now I feel dumb.
-
I crie evry tiem.

I remember looking through the forums in times past and thinking to myself, "Man, I need to get myself some of that internet cred. Longevity and post counts are important." Then I remembered my original Neopets account, that thing is like twelve or thirteen years old now. I don't think I'd put that on a resume, or admit it to anyone but a bunch of strangers on the internet.
-
No one said, "I'm better than you because I'm blue." I'm not sure there was that much actual elitism, only that there a perceived elitism. I thought there was one at the time.

In order to understand the mythics, you must understand the sanctity of nekkid pictures of stosh and our blue bars.
-
As an 08 mythic I felt like a Colonel on H3.
-
It's not elitism if you're better than everyone
-
If it makes you feel better; the '04 Mythics thought they were better than the other Mythics.
-
Not elitist. Just painfully unfunny. See the chosen best response for clarification.
-
The Mythics were subject to favouritism and they shared cheesy humour with the moderators. It was awful.
-
No Well, just the 04 ones. All the others were cool.
-
If by elitist you mean being better than everyone else, then yes.
-
I feel as though this thread brought out the best people this community has to offer. And by that I mean the Mythics.

Long ago, before the age of #dragons, legends talk of a mystical time where the blessed blue reigned supreme with a lust for power and a love of crushing the meandering masses of heroic grey masked men and women who sought to surpass them and rule with love in their hearts. But, this of course is only a legend.

Brave crew of Bnet, consider the question of Mythics. These are the questions which man has asked ever since he first gazed at the stars and dreamed. My old-site ancestors were ruled by their emotions. They felt with their hearts. They made love with their hearts. They believed with their hearts. And above all else, they believed in a place in which these questions of Mythics would be answered. Modern dogma tells us this place is a myth. A fantasy concocted by pagans. It is no fantasy! I tell you ...it exists! My brothers, we have been chosen to undertake the greatest adventure of all time, ...the discovery of Sha Ka Ree. I mean, Mythic Members.
-
I'm with Hylebos... To be honest I didn't even realize there were Members outside the ranks of Mythic Members.
-
Honestly, they've never been elitist in my experience.
-
Individuals are, or aren't. To try to say "anyone who met a particular set of conditions on a website is going to be an utter tool" is a foolish assumption.

I was a mythic once, and I like to think I wasn't a total jerk. Mostly I just liked the color.
