They seem to be very popular as of recently (and probably always, just never noticed it.)
From what I've heard and seen of EVE, it get's pretty crazy and is supposedly really fun.
Also, for Warhammer I have no interest in the table top. Heard they changed the game rules for the worse and it's way too expensive. But I understand there are RTS and a huge lore to it.
So, any fans of either on here that gave give me tips on weather I should or shouldn't and what to do if I wind up getting into it?

Edited by The Alcotai: 6/19/2013 1:37:15 AMAs much as I love tabletop 40k it's not particularly balanced and needlessly expensive for what it is. Dawn of War is an decent RTS which makes it an excellent alternative and is a good place to start with the universe. Lots of good books too if you're into the lore (and there's lots of it).

You ever try Planetside 2? I hear that one's really good

I have played EVE and I have to tell you it is very fun, but you do have to pay attention to what you're doing. There are skills that train in real-time and allow you to use different ships and modules. If you don't pay attention to your skill queue then it will run out and you do not get that time back. I suggest getting a trial account, look for any promotional offers as well. Then you will know if you really want to play it. Also, it's not as fun unless you join a corporation.

Yeah, table top 40k is absurdly expensive. I recommend Dawn of War 2 + exspansions and Space Marine. If you are interested in the lore of 40k, grab the Eisenhorn Omnibus, the first 3 Horus Heresy books, or a Gaunt's Ghosts omnibus. That should cover the basics of the universe. Can't help you with EVE though.
