Have games actually gotten worse?

Or does our nostalgia for the good ol' days make us feel like all the games suck nowadays? Personally, I think it's a little bit of both.

I blame CODs popularity on the gaming markets decline, company all want a piece of the COD market so they implement those horrible game mechanics into their games
