Okay, so by now most of us know that there will only be three classes: Titan, Hunter, and Warlock. However, Bungie hasn't said that there won't be Class Specialization, have they? So, assuming they do include specializations (assumptions, assumptions) here's some of what I think they ought to include:
(the names aren't necessarily representative of what I think they should actually be, if you have better ones, feel free to tell me)
Warlock
Mage- A more offensively focused version of the Warlock. Pros: Great at offensive magic. Can make use of powerful buffs applied to oneself, but they are mostly all offensive. Cons: Reductions in other fields of magic. Decreased magic resistance. Slightly decreased physical resistance
Wizard- The all around Warlock. Pros: Slight buffs in pretty much all type of magic. Increased magic resistance. Slightly increased physical damage. Cons: Jack of all trades, master of none.
Healer- Team player warlock. Focuses on healing and buffs. Pros: Bonuses to healing and buffing for allies. Slight bonuses to self healing and buffing. Slightly increased physical resistance. Cons: Less offensive spell damage.
Titan
Tank- Pretty obvious what this one is. Pros: Increased Physical resistance. Neutral speed. Cons: Decreased speed. (Can't decide if magic resistance should go up or down...)
Damage (name?)- Titan focusing on damage. Pros: Increased damage. Neutral speed. Cons: (I don't know what to put here...)
Soldier- All around Titan. Pros: Slight bonuses to everything. No decreases. Cons: Like Wizard: Jack of all trades, master of none.
Speed (name?)- Titan focusing on speed. Pros: Increased speed (includes things like reload time and mounting animations, if those are in) Cons: Slightly decreased damage. Decreased armor, both physical and magical.
Engineer- Not too sure about this, but I thought I would include it anyways. Typical engineer class. Builds stuff and whatnot. Pros: Gains a turret building ability. Maybe could have a drone that would follow you. Cons: Doesn't get any other bonuses or anything.
Hunter
Sniper- Sniper. Shoots snipers and stuff.
Bounty Hunter/Space Cowboy- Specializes in Pistols, Revolvers, other small guns. Pros: Is a BAWS.
Rogue/Scout- Sneaky. Fast. Deadly. 'Nuff said.
(Sorry the Hunter ones were half-assed. It's one in the morning, I ain't got time for this)
So there you have it. Specializations (Also known as Sub-Classes). Feel free to add/change stuff. Also feel free to praise my awesome thread. I might also consider not killing you if you inform me that my thread is bad and that I should feel bad, but that's all it will be, a consideration.
EDIT: No idea where #SexyLonghorn came from. lolwut.
EDIT 2: Just to be clear, none of these were meant to be restrictive at all. They are just slight adjustments to stats and characteristics that help you mold your character to your play style better. Think of it like the proficiencies from MW3. Just because you chose the Range one didnt mean you had to shoot from long range. It just meant you could.

I don't get it. Bungie tells us they are making a new game that borrows from MMO/RPGs but is more intuitive and streamlined and people immediately dream up ways to add more and more and more elements to the game. With how thoughtful Bungie is about trimming the fat, so we get the "meat" of the experience, why are some people still in the mindset that every aspect of Destiny needs something or is missing X or Y or Z? I guarantee that there has been no stone unturned inside the Bungie think-tank. So if they say all we need is three classes to have a great experience. All we need is three classes.

Yea I think I would want my guy to be how I would be in this world.
-
No. I want to have my guy how I want him.
-
That would be cool
-
I'd definitely like there to be room for further specialisation within each class, even class mixing/hybridisation.
-
I think that the maxes should be: Hunter becomes Predator Titan becomes Archon Warlock becomes Archmage
-
*decides to keep thread going* I like the title especially how adding stuff makes it seem formal

No All those sub classes Make up the one class I pity the fool...
-
Ok,watching the subclasses of the players i say mines: Titan: Berserker: More attack bonus, rage, machineguns. Defender: The counterpart of berserker. Hunter: Sniper: Quick run, skill that increase range/damage,snipers. Scout: Stealth, skill that track enemyes,smg/pistols/knife. Warlock: Battlemage (lol): More endurance, energy shields,smg/shotguns. Combatmedic (or healer if u want): More magic habilityes,heals,smg/pistols. Thats all,for me only two subclasses,if the game have more, better of course. Prepare for a tsunami of invented subclasses now.

I don't know.. they said the difference between classes would be minimal and not make you regret choosing the class you did, meaning the differences will not be anything all that big.
-
WARlock. I AM an IED.
-
They confirmed that there will be some form of specialization although they did not announce how it will be done.
-
most good RPG players know that a ''Class'' is just a fancy term to the uninitiated, the player in the end has the ultimate choice of what his character is going to be like, i like this but since we don't the specific on how the classes are going to be like its hard to, i write about some of their abilities here though http://www.bungie.net/7_Class-abilities/en-us/Forum/Post?id=61023475#referred-Destiny
-
Each class should just have these skill trees that can be reset rather than sub classes, like Bungie said they dont want you to feel you made the wrong decision down the road
-
On damage for the Titan, it's cons should be more vulnerable at certain spots like ok the back since you're are mainly focused on going ahead and attacking from the front and putting every shield in the frontside of you since that's where the enemy's will be

Edited by Xan Moshi: 6/20/2013 5:22:03 PMHi guys. Sorry to barge in like this but could you all spare just thirty seconds to look at a relevant idea I have for Destiny? http://www.bungie.net/en-us/Groups/Post?id=60816483&groupId=16555

In an E3 interview/friendly lunch with DeeJ, (some of the Guardian Radio guys if I remember) mentioned that Bungie wanted to avoid the "HOLY TRIO" as they put it of the traditional MMORPG. Healers would almost instantly create this unwanted system mechanic. But like you said the idea of specialixations that are non-restrictive (I personally favor extra class abilities, thoughts below?) so in general I wouldn't be surprised if we did see them. Hunter Names: MARKSMAN, GUNSLINGER, keep ROGUE =)
-
This might be cool but not cool i plan on being a hunter and all those subclass ideas fit into everything i wanna do and be. I wanna use snipers and pistols but i wanna be able to sneak and kill my enemies with out them knowing
-
What about the mythical vanguard?
-
the only game that I saw healing properly was shadowrun with the tree of life..and everyone had that if u bought! even the resurrection was good.
-
If we have a healer sub class I will utterly rage. They are a horrible sub class, especially for a FPS. All it will do is make a huge stereotype on the warlock class.
