Originally I wanted to join the Army but due to my moms health I would rather not be too far from home right now. So what I basically want to know is, how do I train to become a police officer? I studied for the ASVAB but have no clue about what I need to do to train for it.
Also, does anyone know if they accept people with G.E.Ds?

Go to college. Believe it or not, a lot of police officers do have degrees in things such as criminal justice. They aren't high school kids that decide to become police. In fact, you need to be 21 before they'll even consider you. You'll also want to be fit. The police have a very interesting physical fitness test. It actually involves simulations that have to be completed in a certain time period too. After this point you're going to want to look up your local police academy. That's when you really 'start.' I think it's like half a year of training. At that point there are a bunch of tests both physical and mental. Assuming you pass, you just need to apply at a police station and get accepted!

Edited by Ichthyosaur: 5/29/2013 4:50:46 PMYou don't need a degree but it helps break the glass ceiling. Also start excercising regularly if you don't already, I hear the fitness test is brutal.

Burrito has got it, having a degree in psychology, or criminal science and law would help you progress really quick.

LOL at the cop hate in here. Yet you all would dial 911 really fast in an emergency. Too funny. As for becoming a police officer. Go here

Be fat, eat doughnuts, and and act like an idiot.

I think they do But I only think that because I saw End of Watch and they mentioned GEDs at one point

Step one enroll in police academy Step two develop a sense of undeserved pride Step three park behind large objects and watch traffic enjoy the force, Pig!

I'd suggest not sacrificing all of your integrity.
