So, mother ships, but not clan mother ships but monarchy/government motherships, my idea would be that from time to time the ruling would make a decision to invade an area of a planet/moon which would include the clans as a shared invasion. This would result in some good cinematography, just imagine all the guardian starships along side their clan "motherships" which would then be next to an even bigger,huge leading ship. This would push my idea of different levels of community coming together to make a change for the greater good of the "city", starting with your individual groups of friends, then your clan and finally the "City".
