Someone elaborate the ending of Neon Genesis Evangelion

OP, you dun goofed. You were supposed to watch The End of Evangelion before watching episodes 25 & 26. Also, don't listen to Sesto, End of Eva and Ep. 25/26 are the same ending but told in a different manner. At the end of Episode 26 when he's being Congratulated, you saw the stage begin to crack and shatter, that was his own mind finally coming to accept the harsh emotions of other people. He broke down the imaginary wall he built up, he finally overcame the Hedgehogs Dilemma that was plaguing him through out the series. The location is a coral reef like place where under him is the Primordial Soup of all life that everyone is currently at. Everyone is together cause of Instrumentality. But seriously, go watch End of Eva right now. Then come back and make another thread titled "WTF DID I JUST WATCH?"

1 ReplyWatch the End of Evangelion. The last two episodes of Neon Genesis were created when they ran out of money, and were essentially random crap thrown in there to finish the series. End of Evangelion takes place right after the 24th episode, and is supposed to replace the last two episodes. It has a much better budget and is the official ending. Now, End of Evangelion is really confusing too, but it is still much better. So watch it.

If memory serves correctly (I haven't seen the series in years), Shinji is ultimately fighting his inner self. He cannot comprehend his current situation and denies it (thus denying humanity at the same time). However, over the course of his "trip" he realizes that he is not alone, and that there has always been people there, and many of them friends and family. Realizing this he accepts his fate and thus does not ultimately doom humanity to oblivion. Or something like that. (I may be mixing some things up).
