What ever happened to the PC thread anyway? One of the big things I miss from the old Bungie.net :/

I'm already into PC gaming but I've been meaning to upgrade my HD 6870. I was going to crossfire but I think they're discontinued now.

What can the Lenovo Y580 do? As in, is that the best choice for the price and can it run games without any qualms? Is there a way to put together a laptop for gaming yourself for cheaper? /wants to game but needs laptop not desktop.

I don't know much about computers or computer gaming but I'm a huge fan of battlefield, crysis, WoW, ARMA, etc. I also have 1000 or more I'm willing to spend on a custom build. Do you have any recommendations for a good build based on something like this? Oh and I don't need to be maxing the graphics out to be literally real life, but not crap either and obviously good frame rate.

This any good? If I have the money I plan on getting the i5-3570K instead.

Love me some RPGs (Fallout) but I like shooters too. I ACTUALLY play the games and I have to do everything on the games or else I'm not satisfied. That's why I like RPGs, so much to do. Huge fan of Halo

Got anything for $600 or less that can run Skyrim good? "Optimal" isn't necessary, but, I wont do "terrible" or even "bad" and want better than "ok". PREFERABLY a laptop. Yeah, I'm aware of how insane that sounds, but, it's where I'm at.
