DEBUNKED: Xbox One excluding families and friends who share games.

LASTEST NEWS: Wired sat down with Phil Harrison, Microsoft's VP, to clear up a few things surrounding the Xbox One. In the interview, Harrison has thankfully clarified what this thread was complaining about, and debunked it. Great news for families of gamers, great news for friends who share games. See the link above, or read the extract here:
Wired: So as another example, if I took my disc and went to a friend’s house, would I be able to play that game on his machine? Harrison: Yes, you can. You can take your game around to your friend’s house just as you would today — that’s assuming you have a physical disc — and what we’re doing with the new Live technology is that… with the disc, it’s just a repository for “the bits”. You can put that disc into his drive, you can play the game while you’re there, and then you go home and take that disc with you. But actually, “the bits” are still on his drive. If your friend decides that he really likes to play that game, then he can go buy it instantly, and it doesn’t need to download again. It’s already there. Once he’s paid for it, it’s immediately there.
Yay! ============================================================= Original post:
Edit with response from Xbox Support: https://twitter.com/Dropship_dude/status/337209329344204800. Essentially they're unable to confirm or deny this at this moment in time.
http://majornelson.com/2013/05/21/xbox-one-and-used-games/ The link above outlines how used games will not have to paid for again to use at a friend's house, so long as you sign in with your profile to use it. While we do not know for certain that this is the exact case, it does bring up a pretty big issue: That sounds all well and good, but when my profile takes 10+ minutes to download because of the amount of data on it, it's a major inconvenience. Additionally, it prevents my friends from being able to earn their own achievements on the game. However, the biggest issue I have with this is what's essentially a "-blam!- you" to gaming families and friends who share games. My brother and I have an Xbox 360 each, and play different games all the time. We very, very rarely game with one another. He often buys games that I don't want to buy, and I often buy games he doesn't want to. With the current, "sure, borrow the disc" system, that's no problem. I want to play Modern Warfare 3 for a bit? No problem, just borrow the disc. He wants to play Forza 4 for a bit? No problem, borrow my disc. But then comes the Xbox One. With this new system, as apparently confirmed by Larry Hryb at the link above, if my brother wants to borrow my game to play with his friends, he has to sign into my account. So he can no longer play with his friends, because I haven't added them. Not only that, but it means I cannot play my other games without being signed into a profile, so I physically CANNOT play games unless I'm using his profile. And, remember what I said about me having games he doesn't have? Let's say he's borrowing Forza 5 in the future, and I want to play Watch_Dogs. He doesn't have Watch_Dogs, so I would have to buy it again just to play it while he plays Forza. I'd have to start all over again because it's a new profile, and I wouldn't be able to play with my friends. Microsoft, if this is truly the case, then what exactly were you thinking? For a social gamer like myself, who frequently borrows and lends games from and to friends and family, this is the worst thing I could possibly imagine about the new Xbox. The requirement for an internet connection isn't as much of an issue to me any more, because my network is quite reliable now. But this? This takes the cake. This is assuming what Major Nelson has stated is in fact true. Full clarification is what I'm after here, because at the moment, Microsoft are laughing at families and friends who regularly share games.
Important note: People are jumping to the conclusion that as a result of speculation, I hate the new Xbox and will not be getting it. This isn't true. I'm pointing out an issue I have with the One, and trying to address it. Please take this into consideration before replying. Chances are I will be getting the One, because of Forza 5 and the fact most of my friends will be getting it (plus I adore Xbox controllers). However, there's still a slim chance I'll get the PS4. It's down to E3, methinks.
Do you and your brother share socks? Do you and your brother share proprietary computer software? In a way I can't say I blame them and this has been on the horizon for some time. Yes it sucks to the consumer, but business is business. Game Stop is going to have to come up with a new strategy. Looks like they are simply eradicating the second hand game market.
