The Edinburgh zoo has started to artificially inseminate the panda so they reproduce but I feel if you have to force a species to survive is it worth keeping it around?
Surely the species is doomed to go extinct if it refuses to mate. The species has already given up and we are forcing it's continuation to the point it will forever be in captivity and is now a waste of resources.
In chester zoo they managed to increase black rhino reproducing to 1 rhino a year and to me they are worth saving because they are actually mating unlike the panda.
Should their be a point that we should just stop protecting the animals near extinction? Is it our place to keep them alive at all costs?

Keep pandas in zoos by all means but wild pandas are one of those species that has become too specialist for it's own good and would probably have died out by now if not for human intervention. I feel trying to sustain a wild population would be fruitless. Just ordinary pandas though, red pandas are freaking awesome!

the solution is viagra.

Why not he refuses to lose weight and just keeps gaining. His batting average is decent, but he's slow as -blam!-.

Seriously, they don't even want to reproduce. Evolution has, somehow, failed the panda. Perhaps in doing so it is serving the rest of us denizens of Earth. We should let it take its course.
-
They're going extinct because of US...
-
Or we could, you know, quit destroying their habitat and release them into the wild.
-
if they don't want to reproduce then why should we force it? just to keep a species alive that doesn't do anything?

Edited by TheChimichanga: 5/13/2013 7:07:24 PMMitochondrion should mate with the pandas to make a better species. C'mon, man up Mito. Climb into the pen and show that panda bitch how to be a woman.
-
But how will I get my orange chicken without them?!
-
Well. They won't mate to save their own lives. And they only eat one type of plant and nothing else even if forced. I think we should just let them die. It's a waste of resources trying to keep them alive.
-
They aren't even going extinct because of us. They're going extinct because they're a dumb species. I say let them die.

Edited by ABotelho: 5/13/2013 2:29:58 PMIt's not really forcing anything. The pandas don't know they're almost extinct, there is no sense of urgency for them. As long as the numbers are under 10 000, which I believe is the number required for a species to be capable of surviving naturally, they need help.

Panadas aren't dying out anymore due to Humans, I say let nature take its coarse
-
Yes (not lying) They provide nothing for their local ecosystem and all they do is eat bamboo all day. We can't even get them to mate. We should give up our efforts. These things are retarded and lazy. We should focus our efforts on more important species like Snow Leopard or Great Gorilla or something like that. Not -blam!-ing pandas. They don't deserve conservation because they don't even help themselves; we should just let natural selection take its course. With the thousands of species going extinct every singe day; I doubt that these useless pandas are worth saving at all. I say that we should leave them alone to their own devices and allow them to go extinct naturally. -blam!- pandas.

We're a species as well and our actions and decisions might be considered natural, so... your point may as well be invalid.
