Imagine you are at Work, or waiting for your number at DMV or something, and you get a notification from a friend asking for some help on Mars. they are pinned down by an unplanned Ambush from the Kabal. so you as a friend on the app can maybe do 1 of 2 things (or more).
1. you can send them a care package with Health, Amo, and maybe even send one of your favorite heavy weapons for them to use. and maybe your personal ship shows up on your Friend's game to drop it off.
2. If your Remotely controlled Ship can show up in a friend's game, why not command it to Air Strike for them!? Either have it Zoom Past with Bombs blasting or Hover above and Maybe lay down some cover fire to let your friend out of the pinch. or even Decimate the mass of enemies with an onslaught of Fire and missiles. and MAYBEEEEEE, you can have that support fire be a playable Minigame on your phone that effects your friends In the game depending on how well you aim on the map to kill his enemies.
I really think cool ways to support friends in battle will really keep you engaged in the game whether you are at home on your console or not. Might even be something you can do While actually Playing Destiny at home on your console. a supplementary activity controlled through your mobile device (This is already a possibility with the Wii U and im Sure Sony and Microsoft are moving in that direction with next gen). Maybe you call on your OWN ship for air support through your phone. Weapon Drops from your Armory on ship in case of a change in enemy type. very cool dont you think.
What Do YOU want your Destiny Mobile App to offer?

The sad thing is... An unplanned attack from the cabal will never happen because AI aren't that smart, meaning it's really easy to escape. And even if it SOMEHOW happened then you would probably be playing with other people do there should be no problem... Now, let's say this did happen (somehow). Do you really think you're gonna have the time to message your friend and then return to the game and wait for him to do something? Because by the time your friend responds you would most likely be dead. I think It would be 10 times faster to just escape (AI are dumb, they won't follow you everywhere). But you most likely won't be pinned down.
