Except it's not the one you have believed in all your life, or one who you've denied the existence of in favor of facts and science. It's there, it's shown itself to the world and has given undeniable proof of it being the real deal, and so you're left to wonder...
What exactly do you do now?

Say "hey, hi I already believe in you so see ya"

Edited by Chaz: 5/21/2013 11:37:19 AMWell if undeniable evidence of a deity presents itself then I'll have no choice but to accept it. My life probably wouldn't change that much since they probably wouldn't do a lot.
-
I believe in that higher power. If its undeniable evidence, i would be ignorant to deny it. But here is the real question, what would constitute undeniable evidence of a god or gods existence?
-
Since there isn't, /thread I'm a secular humanist, so if there's proof one exists, and I mean proper, undeniable proof, then nothing changes. I don't have to believe in it, because believing in it implies I need faith that it's there. Well, I've just seen proof, so my stance doesn't change.
-
Whatever I'm expected to do in that circumstance. Since any plausible God either loves the way the world works, or is disgusting immoral mess for allowing the world to operate against his wishes, I would probably not change much.
-
Well there are quadrillions of gods that I do not believe in. My reaction depends on which Santa Claus it'll be.. If it was the desert god I'd do everything in my power to punch him into face.
-
Im a man of facts so I'd admit I was wrong and move on.
-
Try and get on it's good side.
-
Well, I scream at it until I cannot scream any more. Being as it is a terrible being.
-
A barrel roll.
-
Well.. Then I'd be interested in that religion. I'd try to learn to use magic.
-
Kill him. then make myself god

Edited by Steel Assassin: 5/9/2013 3:59:13 AM"You shall have no other gods before me." Is there anywhere in the Old Testament (or New Testament/Qu'ran, I suppose) that directly states no other gods exist? Abrahamic traditions may be able to reason the existence of another god by stating that it isn't the true God, the one worthy of worship. Most Eastern religions would be fine with a god being proven to exist. Buddhists could attribute it as yet another celestial Buddha, or a bodhisattva. Other religions in the region, such as Hinduism, don't typically limit themselves to a specific number of gods. If I understand correctly, it's kinda the same basis in logic as the Romans/Greeks; the more gods to worship/please, the better chances for a better life. Additionally, these types of religions focus more on the spiritual self than appeasing any particular deity. I highly doubt atheists would flip out, except maybe the really loud ones that always like to insult the religious...but those are so rare and we never see them anywhere, especially on the forums. Yup.

If the evidence really is as definitive as you say, then I'd have no choice but to believe that the god exists. That doesn't mean that I'd believe all of the claims its followers make about it, or that my sense of ethics would change.

It would depend on the values of said god, of course.
-
i'm an atheist so that would be proof of any god, i'd say i was wrong, reconsider my beliefs, and move on
-
I don't see how it changes anything, really. All that happens is that I go from "I don't believe in a god(s)." to "There there is/are god(s), but I don't really care."
-
Atheists claim the evidence to be "wrong" and anyone who claims otherwise is "stupid".
-
Believe it in him? Empirical evidence is valid.
-
Hope he isn't an ass.
-
I already believe there may possibly be God or possibly many gods, so I suppose I'd just pick the real one. Or ones.
-
Edited by Meursault: 5/9/2013 2:12:59 AMIt would depend on what he/she/them want people to do (beliefs, afterlife, morality, etc.) but, Probably figure out how to fight him/her/them.
-
Go to war against said god in the name of freedom!
-
Suck up like the insect I apparently am.
