If yes, what hipster qualities do you possess?
If no, why?
I suppose if I were to examine myself from a 3rd person point of view, I might find that I tend to avoid certain mainstream media slightly because it's mainstream.

I guess so.... The clothes I wear (mainly from UrbanOutfitters and American Apparel) and the music I listen to are basically indie.

Edited by Wyldfyre: 5/23/2013 11:21:19 AMYou almost definitely haven't heard of 80 - 95% of artists in my music library before.

I don't like pokemon, so I'm not a hipster.

I avoid popular roads during rush hour. I also make a point to avoid restaurants that are too popular, becuae they are too crowded.I also dislike trendy bars. Am I a hipster?

What a sheltered life I must lead to not know what hipster seems to mean, and here I was thinking the social phenomenon constituted being completely oblivious to the world at and utterly focused on perfecting the obsession with one's individuality. It's all about avoid popular ideas, places, things, obscurities, random occurrences, etc? I thought being a hipster was defined simply as being a total d-bag (and I saw that with all due respect of manners as I read it printed in the newspaper today) for no apparent reason other than an insecurity of being associated with other like minded humans.

Compared to the people I hang out with, yes. Compared to other people as a whole, no.
-
I don't avoid the mainstream because it's mainstream, I avoid it because I hate people.
-
Musically I'm a bit hipster, but in other ways I'm not at all. I don't hate anything else because it's popular, e.g CoD.

Edited by Ichthyosaur: 5/8/2013 4:05:38 PMNo I don't like anything for the sole reason that its unpopular. All of my interests and likes are because I am genuinely into them. Whether they are popular or not matters nothing to me.
-
Well I dislike the majority of mainstream music not because everyone listens to it but because it just doesn't tickle my fancy.
-
Meh. I don't think so. I like things simply because I like them. I try and not let other people's thoughts on the matter, impact my interests.
-
Edited by Cthulhu: 5/8/2013 3:48:48 PMI guess, since it would be pretty unpopular to be Cthulhu.
-
I enjoy indie music, and games.
-
Edited by Bolt: 5/8/2013 3:43:35 PMNah; the amount I spend annually on clothes is often below $50, and I've never used food stamps to buy fancy cheese.
-
I just like stuff that I enjoy. If its mainstream then its mainstream that doesn't really bother me.
-
In "Any Way"? I guess everyone fits that description. I mean, what a pathetic person you would be if you were mainstream on everything. That would suck.
-
Edited by ABotelho: 5/8/2013 3:39:03 PMI don't give a shit. I play, I watch, I listen to whatever the -blam!- I feel like playing, watching and listening.

If you answer yes, then that means you are not.
