say that you do want to have a scare factor during the game, what would make it scary to you? what elements would be good to add a fear factor in the game?

WHY DO I KEEP CLICKING ON THAT!? DX

when I think scary in a game, I think dead space. creepy abandoned ships with echoes of the evil that lurks inside... what gets me really freaked out is how strange the creatures look. like the baby thingies, i think theyre called stalkers? they should add monsters like that. also the corpsers from gears of war are pretty scary. i shat my pants the first time i encountered one.

I think their trying to make the Hive the scare factor for Destiny... Zombie-esk type creatures who (If the video is correct) few of them can wield weaponry... Hoards of Hive creatures running as you all screeching and crying out as you blast through them fighting for your survival... it's more thriller the horror but it will get your blood pumping... but wait, you just used every last bit of your ammo... now you have to either run for your life for die as you're over run by the Hoard of the Hive... Now you're heart is definitely racing... I've had few moments like that with video games...

I doubt too much in Destiny will be really scary to me. It's always got to be grounded, and sci-fantasy is quite the opposite. That said, Bungie did a fine job on 343 Guilty Spark and Sacred Icon; I suppose claustrophobic, dimly-lit, repetitious interiors do it for me when realism isn't an option. Obvz music and audio design help.

Your own personal demon that only you can see. Nobody else can see it, nobody else can help you. Whenever it is around the music and atmosphere will slowly change. You can't stop it, only run. If you want something to be scary, you can't feel like you have any chance. Being armed to the teeth and able to fight back takes away the scare factor.
-
If there is one, I wouldn't want it to be greater than, for example, first meeting the Flood on Halo CE.
-
I don't want it to be a horror game. Leave that to horror games.
-
An enemy that you can't kill, following you through a dark level. You can slow it down but it will keep coming back.
-
the ubermorph.
-
An underground ruin in the deepest, darkest level and only your lights on your gun and armor lighting the way,all of a sudden you're surrounded by the hive and as you raise your gun in preparation, you notice you only have a half a clip in your chamber...*gulp*

Pecking order in all seriousness. I just want some sort of haunted looking area. Maybe a USG ishimura type of ghost ship we could randomly find in space.

Edited by Charlemagne: 5/8/2013 9:49:49 PMFirst off, I don't get scared. Derelict ships floating in the recesses of space would be nice. I would like to see the enemy attack us right after they somehow force a power-outage onto us. Going into a cave or the bowels of the Traveler and being shut in a deep dark with nothing but a torch/flashlight would be fun. Crashing in a jungle as the sun is setting and finding out you are in the heart of a Cabal/Fallen/Glimmer/etc. infested area and you are far from help or the Last City. You are alone, with no ammo or weapons. Just the darkness and the swiftness of your movement making whispers in the dark. I would like to see those kinds of things.

Like DragonFire said, ghosts ships would be incredibly sick. Imagine a contact suddenly appears on your radar from slipstream space, it's a ship hailing a distress beacon. But when you go on board all you find is a depressurized ship with a rampant/fractured AI screaming at you through the comms, and then you find the bodies... *shudderz*

I'd like there to be some form of a scare factor, but it needs to be somewhat avoidable. Let's say there's a spooky looking ghost ship. Inherently it sparks the thought, "That place looks scary, and there's probably something scary in it." Now if it looks scary, and I think it's scary, than it better well be scary. I can choose to investigate it if I want, or I can save it for when I have an itch for a "scary" mission.

Atmosphere, an abandoned research lab somewhere with critters you see glimpses of and hear, but only rarely see directly.
-
Hell Yeah, Something that Stalks you in the abandoned areas, Kind of like Slender-man, Only Replace Slender-man with a Little girl, Something like the Little Sisters From Bioshock Series.
-
I'm good at close quarters combat in games, and nothing makes me more apprehensive than an enemy that can easily jump out of the shadows and kill me with a few hits, Halo CE was a nightmare (in a good way).
-
Huge abandoned areas, creepy ambiance, and ridiculously powerful solo enemies few and far between that you need to fear living in those areas. Think like the original Berserker from Gears of War 1.

No no no no no no no no and no... That picture is almost forcing me to not even post and just leave right now lol. You want a scare faction have cabal heads dropped all around you in the middle of the city and when you are getting treasure get overrun by a mob of hive or something but no scary dead looking girls please. I have that one movie in my head and on the preview as on YouTube the girl is saying Sony skip it like a million times before you can skip the ad and I feel like I am going to get attacked by her or something
