Imagine you are at Work, or waiting for your number at DMV or something, and you get a notification from a friend asking for some help on Mars. they are pinned down by an unplanned Ambush from the Kabal. so you as a friend on the app can maybe do 1 of 2 things (or more).
1. you can send them a care package with Health, Amo, and maybe even send one of your favorite heavy weapons for them to use. and maybe your personal ship shows up on your Friend's game to drop it off.
2. If your Remotely controlled Ship can show up in a friend's game, why not command it to Air Strike for them!? Either have it Zoom Past with Bombs blasting or Hover above and Maybe lay down some cover fire to let your friend out of the pinch. or even Decimate the mass of enemies with an onslaught of Fire and missiles. and MAYBEEEEEE, you can have that support fire be a playable Minigame on your phone that effects your friends In the game depending on how well you aim on the map to kill his enemies.
I really think cool ways to support friends in battle will really keep you engaged in the game whether you are at home on your console or not. Might even be something you can do While actually Playing Destiny at home on your console. a supplementary activity controlled through your mobile device (This is already a possibility with the Wii U and im Sure Sony and Microsoft are moving in that direction with next gen). Maybe you call on your OWN ship for air support through your phone. Weapon Drops from your Armory on ship in case of a change in enemy type. very cool dont you think.
What Do YOU want your Destiny Mobile App to offer?

That First idea will never make it into the game.

i like this idea alot it just needs some balance, hopefully i would b able to use this sort of thing while playing also first off make your ship vulnerable to enemy fire and if it explodes u loose your ship and have to pay for brand freakin new one and you can only play in the tower until u buy a new ship or a friend invites you to a fireteam to take u to orbit in their ship XD i think ammo drops is a badass idea, like buy the ammo from an ordinance re supplier in app merchant for like twice as much glimmer as you can buy ammo from the tower cause youll pay for the convenience so having an in app merchant to purchase the ammo drops and maybe instead of missles just like heavy weapon slots to mount ship specific rocket launchers or twin machine guns to your ship but firing ammo that costs so much glimmer that people have to use this sparingly in addition to paying for repairs on the ship if fire was received. i want like a bug out setting on the ships health bar so it automatically dips once it is at whatever percentage of health you set it to this will transform the ships from aesthetic to functional and give players a goal to step up their game, a reason to have multiple ships and purchase the next best one, and more gear to grind for or upgrades to unlock and purchase like ship armor or shields big part of this type of thing is definetly balance, only one ship on any map at a time, all ammo drops and so forth cost fat stacks of glimmer and this has a 2 hour cooldown on it with the vulnerability of you losing your ship completly this kind of thing could really help the guardian that isnt afraid to throw his dick on the table

The sad thing is... An unplanned attack from the cabal will never happen because AI aren't that smart, meaning it's really easy to escape. And even if it SOMEHOW happened then you would probably be playing with other people do there should be no problem... Now, let's say this did happen (somehow). Do you really think you're gonna have the time to message your friend and then return to the game and wait for him to do something? Because by the time your friend responds you would most likely be dead. I think It would be 10 times faster to just escape (AI are dumb, they won't follow you everywhere). But you most likely won't be pinned down.

Just customizing my character, weapons, and whatever on my phone/tablet would be enough for me. I think it'd be much easier on a touch-screen compared to the usual scrolling down down down down down down through menus and lists. Then, watch him update live on screen. Also, say I'm in a battle, it'd be cool to see enemy info and more in-depth self info on the app -- like Smart Glass does with movies. Or even simple stats like who is the enemy, how many have I killed, what's his history, and so on (limiting info based on the enemy/situation of course). A nifty little map showing my location would be cool, plus the option to toggle show/hide the locations of online friends and online strangers. Not sure how leveling up or items might work, but game relevant mini-games to play when away that offer in-game rewards would be cool, especially if multiplayer or some sort of daily challenge. Also, I'd suggest a timer or daily limit to stop any farming. Anyway, great thread, and I hope some ideas from the community spark some great additions to the game/app.
