What power do Mods have now?

Seriously, I miss it when rules were enforced. You can say "just mute them" but now Literally every thread on the Flood is about religion or Politics, do you expect me to mute everyone? When people were banned for making these threads, not many people tried to make them, and instead made Good threads, funny threads and a few troll threads, which could be fun to read. Now everyone is so caught up in talking about Religion (even I get the temptation) that hardly any Good threads are made. My point is, I miss the old system.
You can say "just mute them" but now Literally every thread on the Flood is about religion or Politics, do you expect me to mute everyone?
Why not just change your viewing experience? Insanity is repeat the same thing over and over and expecting different results. The truth is, not everyone views bungie.net in the same way - as the old site did. Everyone's expierence is different based on their actions, likes, follows, mutes, hides, private groups and conversations and account management. Some people could view "The Flood" as clicking Off Topic. Some people view "The Flood" as #Flood. Some people view "The Flood" from All Topics. Some people view "The Flood" from their activity feed based on the users and things they're following. The point is, everyone is viewing things differently. You can't say "but now Literally every thread on the Flood is about religion or Politics", because there are people that get their thread content from other methods that are available to every common user now. It's not like the old site where if you're viewing "The Flood" you're viewing The Flood and that's it. No if's, and's or but's about it.
do you expect me to mute everyone?
Back to my original point. No I don't expect you to mute everyone, but you can as some people choose to. You can also seek the content you're looking for, rather than complaining about the conversations you don't like. You're choosing to keep repeating the same actions and expecting different results. Do something different. Change yourself. Use the tools you've been given.
that hardly any Good threads are made.
Consider using other options available to you to find threads you think are "good", or expect nothing to change.
.... do you expect me to mute everyone?
If you want a Bungie.Net experience that you enjoy? Yes. I expect you to mute anyone/everyone who doesn't "fit" into your idea of "how this site should be". Because I am tired of trying to "read everyone's mind" as to "how this forum should be". Because no matter what we ninja did, it ended up pissing off someone. Now? You have tools. You have power. Don't want to use it? Then don't whine. https://www.bungie.net/7_Whaaaaaaa-Whaaaaa-who39s-gonna-clean-my-room/en-us/Forum/Post?id=5864551

    • You want fireworks? Call forth the Foman. No but really, just mute people. I never do because I like to know if there is someone out there who doesn't see it from my perspective, even if they are an idiot, you can compare yourself to them in the way you sound on the site, and by avoiding what they do you can better your internet self.

    • No one really likes the current system, but do you honestly expect Bungie to pay attention to their fanbase?

    • Personally I like the freedom being tested here with self governance. I got this nagging feeling that the new B.Net board itself might be a social testing stage for Destiny as well. If you don't like the content being discussed then mute the user who's offending you. Trolls will try to bait you into a response for attention, to be edgy, or just not really giving a damn, but if you can't see them or they see you then it defeats their ability to affect you. I like that a lot. Given time board trolls will only have a certain percentage of users who will actually see them and it might make some the smarter ones forgo such direct cursing, or racism, and distateful dialogue. If you see intelligent posters you like then follow them right away and build the board you want to participate in. I'm following a lot of guys who I argue with constantly, but they present thoughtful discourse and I can see their counter points. But I can see the mods having to do their jobs come Destinys launch due to the huge influx of new users who will not understand the mute button or it's true intent until about three months in when things settle down.

    • I don't miss the old totalitarian days where if you so much as looked at a mod wrong, they'd whip out the banhammer, but I don't like the messiness of this new layout either.

      • We need to ban political and religious threads.

      • I feel the same, hopefully after Destiny is released they'll reinforce the rules around here.

          • Unless someone does something that REALLY violates the ToS, they'll just say "mute the user lol" and be on their merry way

          • Well, I can post that with no fear of being moderated for off topic stuff because that's left in the hand of the user now.

          • They still have the power, they just choose not to use it. I understand the less strict rules. With more people coming for Destiny it would be hard to enforce all of them. But the moderation seems non-existant now. It's not a very nice way to handle the forum, IMO.
