So basically i just have a 2 questions concerning guns and freedom and USA in general.
I'm not trying to start a debate or similar i just want to know your opinion because me as a swiss don't really get why you guys allways have to rage if somebody says something against the US or somebody tries to touch your guns
These are my questions:
1. What to you have against gun registrations and better background checks?
it's not like they take away all your guns
2. What's so special about your freedom?
Do you honestly think that other countrys like england, germany and such have less or another kind of freedom that doesn't even compare because it's so much worse?
please enlighten me.

1. I'm not against background checks, but a lot of gun owners are against them because they're deathly afraid of being denied their 2 amendment rights. 2. We're proud of our history. Our obsession with freedom stemmed from our history when we successfully defeated the British throne who was oppressing us and using us for nothing more than a money machine. More people immigrated to America to escape religious persecution. Others came to America for a second chance at life, to escape the poverty of their homeland, and whatever other type of oppression that they might have encountered. America was a refuge for the tired and weary, and in many cases it still is. We are proud of that aspect of us, and we are proud to have been the country that gave people a second chance.

Most currently Republican governments are based off of the US model in some way.
-
I don't think Americans are any more proud than anyone of any other nationality.
-
No offense but Americans are bad ass. Us British are the proud ones (some). Not to mention some are bigoted and racist. (They are the scum of Britain who have nothing to do but be racist. They make us look bad). They blame everything on non white people when in reality they just sit at home doing nothing but taking drugs. Lol! I hate my country in some ways. We need to be more free and multicultural like the US.

1. Our Second Amendment does not allow for the government to take away guns in general. (even thought they do it anyway) 2. No we don't think our freedom is special. It just seems that way because of the age of the memes and all the wars and North Korea stuff thats going on. We just make jokes. It happens. But there is one thing that I believe fuels our all "special freedom" thing. And thats the fact that some countries in europe like England don't like to recognize that America helped them to remain free. Example, I have seen many British people on other forums and on B.net who believe they could have won the Second World War with out Americas help. Thats simply not true. Now America didn't not win the war by itself. But we did show up at the right time. A lot of European countries don't like to admit this. (Not limited to England) So we as Americas do what we do best. Create freedom jokes.

Sorry, I can't hear you over my FREEDOM.

1. Background checks are already required and make sense. The dumb laws like the Assault Weapons Ban make absolutely no sense and do nothing to curb any sort of violence. They're just a nuisance. People also worry that the government would impose such strict regulations within the background checks that very few people, if anyone, could own guns, effectively banning them. 2. I don't think England, Germany, Norway, etc. are any worse than the US. Many countries do things much better than the US, such as healthcare and education. I just enjoy having my right to bear arms. It gives me a much better chance of defending myself should something bad ever happen, although I truthfully hope that I never have to use a gun to defend myself. It also gives me a really fun activity. Going target shooting with friends and family is great fun.

Tbh, I prefer Russia's form of government. You still live a standard of life like Canada and US but a stronger government to protect the civilians.
-
1. Certain common sense measures (such as background checks to all sales) are good, others such as an AWB are not good. There was an AWB during Columbine, and V-Tech happened with just sidearms. 2. I don't think that, sure I love my country the Good Ol US of A (my favorite country in the world), but it's by no means perfect, and other countries do some things better than us. I don't see the difference in Freedoms between other countries other than what Freedoms we have. Not that it really matters.
1. What to you have against gun registrations and better background checks? it's not like they take away all your guns
California Started a registry on SKS rifles, then when the DOJ reversed his decison on what was legal in Commiefornia, they knew exactly where to look, since most law abiding citizens registered their SKS rifles. So yes, it could happen, and it did happen. Also, lets not forget the confiscation of civilian firearms in Hurricane Katrina. Such BS should have never have been allowed to happen.

Edited by LordMonkey: 4/19/2013 7:12:23 AM1) Gun Control is a controversial subject in America. Not all Americans are against Gun Control, nor are all Americans for it. There are different measures of these people of course, not all are radical extremists. 2) America fought against tyranny to become the country it is today. Most European countries evolved from feudal states who merely changed it's outlook from time to time. Though there may be no large difference between a European citizen's rights and an American citizen's rights now, it is the history of these rights in which many might view as important or prideful.
