How would I mod my Xbox 360 and its games? (For offline use)

So after watching several videos, I've realized that there are plenty of simple things I could change that would at least double the time I could sink into Halo's single player. While I understand the coding behind it on a basic level (including the risk of an XBL ban), I am apprehensive of where I should begin. Would anyone be able to shed some light here?

 •
Posted By: Forgewolf I say it'd be really smart to mod your 360 if you already own the next gen anyways. My original Xbox that I still have, but no longer use is modded. I had some fun times with it and unique abilities with it, that you couldn't get on a regular xbox.
Ok. Would you know if all the 'modded parts' can be stored on the hard drive, so I only have to swap out the hard drive?
