Greetings 7th Column, another day of Destiny speculation.
I was pondering through my daily routine of online checkins, and wanted to repost a suggestion here that was made over at Destiny.Bungie.Org, specifically relating to the speculation of "World Flags" for Destiny. Each planet in Destiny has it's own purpose, culture, vibe and niche about it that makes it unique form the other planets.
What if each planet has it's own unique flag to represent it upon your arrival? Sort of a stake in the ground to let you know, "YOU'RE ON VENUS!".
Here's the thread from DBO, which links to a reddit post by "thefrek" that created an Earth Flag along with the other planets. It just gets me thinking of the possibilites that we could be looking at.

Edited by Downserj: 4/16/2013 5:54:06 PMThere is still one more step to go for our future flag. After nearly two centuries since the expansion to the entire galaxy in 2812 we decided to just focus back on Earth. So in the year 3000 we adopted this flag. ;) Presented by a fellow alien friend to our President of Earth. ARROOOOOO! On topic tho, I truly like these designs. Very creative and simple, definitely can see some making good shirts.

Good idea, except Pluto is part of the kuiper belt.

I wouldn't like it because if you travel to the planet then you should know what it is. Also they are alien inhabited now. They probably don't like humans and would try to remove any trace of them. Maybe the occasional flag in a tomb or a human building but not right when you set down. There could be hints but the chances of you landing and finding a lets say mars flag in the ground by you is pretty slim especially since aliens are there.

Those designs are pretty unique in their own "destiny" type of way. Maybe if each one had a different background color instead of just blue.
-
I liked this idea.
-
Look sweet can't wait to see what they look like in-game.
-
I can't help thinking the planet flags don't differentiate enough. Nice designs and ideas though.

Totally bought a T-shirt. Love the design.

Edited by Forsvantro: 4/14/2013 7:36:10 AMIf we include pluto we better toss in ceres too, it's much cooler Edit: actually looked at the album, A+

They look fantastic

While I love the flags, I must ask; How will we colonize Gas Giants? I'm thinking we'll have to stick to their moons. (Jupiter being a prime example.)
-
Cool :) but Pluto is not a planet.
-
Uranus does not need a flag.
-
Where's Eris? There's Pluto there, but no Eris?
-
Looks awesome!! Love the simplicity. I wish the individual World Flags showed the different sizes of the planets instead of them all being the same. Still very cool indeed.

Very design-y! The blue color seems a little plastic in light of all the amazing tones (and the color palette described in the Bungie GDC talk) that Bungie has come up with, but it's a good thought. Maybe the signature deep blue/black of the ARG would feel more like space? Might be too dark for a flag, though. I duno, just my thoughts. They are really cool, in any case, though.

Saturn and Mars are awesome.

Hmm, I think that would be cool having each planet have their own flag to let the player know that you're on this planet. Maybe have the flags on each planet posted through out cities or something like that.
