So I made a thread about joining the army where Capiton pointed out the importantness of having survival skills. Now I've never been camping, not even in a backyard, but I live right next to the forest so I figured I should start. So what should I pack? Keep in mind this is preparation for the army so I don't want absolutely everything that could be useful.
I live in Florida and there are numerous animals I have to worry about including bears, bobcats, foxes, gators, snakes, and wild boar. I don't have anyone to go with so I'll be by myself (I plan on letting multiple people know where I'm going though). i want to do an overnight trip and then stay longer and longer as I get more acclimated with the enviroment.
I don't have any experience either other than reading books and watching a shit load of discovery.
So what should I pack? I plan on bringing backups like emergency food, water, and a fire starter, but other than that I want to actually have to rough it.
Also, keep it cheap if possible.
