What the hell is the point of the quick time event with the elite at the beginning of Halo 4
It can't be a tutorial, because it is one of only two quick time events in the game
Why is the first encounter in the game a quick time event

I physically said "What the -blam!-?" after that happened. My buddy, who I was supposed to be playing co-op with, soon decided that I should see a more "wow-inducing" level, and we started on the level "Requiem." When we reached the moving-lift portion, and had to traverse the foreign, massive and complex architecture in order to re-activate the lift by....pushing a single green button, I was legitimately pissed, and what little respect I had for Halo 4 fell through the floor. My buddy and I resigned ourselves to referring to that game as "Halo 4: Push the Button to do 'It'"

Not going to lie, I grimaced at that point.

Hey, that shit was harder than the Didact!

Edited by IVI1CR0S0F7: 3/30/2013 9:37:49 PMWhy are people so upset about a simple quick time event? Did you not see how -blam!-ing ugly that Elite was? That's the real problem here. The Elites are too damn ugly now.

I want halo 5 to be nothing but quicktime events with only two parts of the game that have free control
-
I remember playing the Halo campaign because I knew there wasn't going to be a QTE. I hate the Halo 4 campaign. Truly abysmal to the series. I don't even want the Halo 4 campaign to be talked about ever again. I am starting to pretend there wasn't even a Halo 4 and Master Cheif is still floating in space.

Bumper Jumper or GTFO
-
God, I hate Halo 4.
-
You know, I liked the idea of what happened in the QTE - but I don't like the way it was executed. If that was the only approachable route (QTE) to kill that Sangheili, then perhaps it shouldn't have been done at all.
-
Melee tutorial, done with a more cinematic flair.
-
The lack of changes... Dawn doesn't even feel like a Halo level. It's my least played mission, because there's very little to uncover in-game. They might as well have made it a long cinematic if they were going to sacrifice a mission slot.

Edited by ZealotSG: 4/1/2013 4:27:39 AMIt'd have actually encouraged playing on higher difficulties if they had done it right (as in, having all difficulties in consideration). Look at CE PoA. Lots of changes on Heroic/Legendary. Dawn has no changes. Even that Jackal sniper does not present a threat.

Who cares? It was a nice little touch to the game. I don't know how else they would have done it since there's nothing in the game mechanics that involves chief scaling a very high wall with debris raining down on his head. It worked well. (Though I will concede that the Didact fight could have been done better.)

I'm more concerned about "Press LT to beat the game". I love Halo 4, but quicktime events are garbage. They take away organic, player-fueled fun and replace it with scripted, completely irrelevant, un-fun crap.
-
Because 343 wanted to make that first encounter dramatic... Ugh, 343.
-
Don't think about it. Don't think about how they ruined Halo.
-
It was to add cinematic flair and keep the player in control of Master Chief making it feel like Master Chief is more capable.
-
Press RB for me. Your words mean nothing to me now. Honestly though, what else could it be? An elite appears out of nowhere during the cutscene. It was just a more schematic approach to it.
-
The Ditact was like the most intense boss battle ever!
-
I think they were trying to be immersive.
-
Sangheili.
-
You're 5 months late
-
all games use quick time events these days
-
Even worse is the way this goes to full-screen when you're playing in split-screen. I think they put it in there for immersion, but it totally breaks the immersion when your entire screen size changes. Come to think of it, Darksiders 2 did something like this to... they had one QTE at the very beginning of the game, and another one 20 hours later at the very end of it, which left me on edge during all the cutscenes after my experience with Assassin's Creed 2. lol

I think the whole Master Chief handicap meme going around today aptly fits parts of what they did to the campaign. I still enjoyed it, but things like this and the other button pushing scenarios just didn't seem to fit.
