So recently I was debating multiple topics with someone I know when the subject eventually became his opinion on CP. He said that private owning and viewing CP that was obtained without payment to a seller of any kind or by any means that would support the production of the said content, is a victimless crime and should be legal. He thought it was ridiculous that you could be arrested for owning pictures as if they were drugs. He then went on to suggest that selling and buying CP in such a way where the profits support the industry be illegal rather than owning and viewing it. I didn't really know what to say because it was such an awkward taboo of a topic so I just told him that things were probably better the way they were and ended the conversation. I still understood his logic and what he was saying; but it still was a little too awkward to talk about for me. What is your opinion flood?

Edited by Diplomat: 3/29/2013 9:23:23 PMOP, your friend brings a good point, a wrong point, but a good point nonetheless. Essentially, the problem lies in that you are owning illegal material that is produced by a very lucrative underground industry. Regardless of wether or not the pictures directly aid the child porn business, the images are still created out of the exploitation of (mostly) non-consenting children. It's the same as knowingly taking an object that you was stolen from another person's home, even if you didn't pay for it. It's still produced out of an illegal action, and thus illegal to own.
