So i finally got Dark Souls
Seriously, this is among my favorite games EVER, and I've only had it a few days. So far, I'm playing a standard warrior class with lots of melee and not much else. I'm at the first bonfire of Blighttown atm, and I was wondering if you guys have any advice for a noob player. Currently, I'm still using the drake sword, and i was wondering if it's about time to swap it out for something else (an upgraded laito katana maybe?). Also, I'm thinking i should probably get a few attunement slots and experiment with magic, but I'm hesitant to because it will use souls that might be better spent on vitality, end, str, etc. I might eventually just start a pyromancer (named melisandre) playthrough, to use magic and get acquainted with the more subtle aspects of the game. Thoughts? ideas? Suggestions? I'm really just wondering if there are any great things I'm overlooking, or terrible mistakes I'm making. And again, this is by far the most exhilarating, intricate, intense, intelligent game I think I have ever played. I am eagerly looking forward to the end of this semester, so I'll have time to really study the game and learn the tricks.

4 RepliesJust going over your post: Get rid of the drake sword. What's your stats and build you have in mind? You can't just pick a random weapon, you have to take one that scales with your build and has a moveset you like. Magic is pretty overpowered, stick with melee if you want the "real" experience. If you want to make a magic class, take the sorcerer, not pyromancer. You can still become a pyromancer, it doesn't take much. I hope you rescued Laurentius when you were in the depths (he's stuck in a barrel close to the Butchers room). If you did, he'll now be at Firelink and will give you the pyromancy flame and sell you pyromancy spells.
