Is it wrong to use a double space? Some claim so. I just read a full article on what has more etiquette and how it "should" be done. Fortunately for typing online, whether you use single or double spacing, it will automatically get rid of "extra space" in your posts and articles, so everyone reads it the same way.
Is there a "correct" way? Some people just grow up in school using double spaces while typing on computers to it's just out of habit now.
What say you bungie.net?

When I first started typing in elementary school, I was taught to double space after periods Now, I just don't use them
-
I try to stay as far away from periods as possible.
-
Single. I've never heard of a format where double spacing is still used throughout all my years studying English.
-
I single space after full stops. I've never had a period, being male.
-
I am, always have been, and always will be single.

Edited by FoMan123: 3/26/2013 1:14:56 AM
Is there a "correct" way?
As a matter of fact there is. Two spaces after a sentence is a holdover from the days of monospaced fonts used on typewriters. With the introduction of proportional fonts used in word processors, web pages, and everywhere else now, two spaces after a sentence is now arcane. No typing or English teacher should ever be requiring two spaces after a period. If they do, feel free to refer them to the Chicago Manual of Style, where it is NOT recommended except for monospaced fonts (which nobody uses anymore). See Sec. 2.9: "Like most publishers, Chicago advises leaving a single character space, not two spaces, between sentences and after colons used within a sentence, and this recommendation applies both to manuscripts and published works."

I've never heard of people putting two spaces after a full-stop. But then, I also don't give a flying -blam!-. OT: No, there's no correct way. For just about any grammatical issue you can think of, there's no 'correct' way.

Edited by Duardo: 4/1/2013 4:41:33 AMI was taught to double space after a period, so that's what I usually do. Bungie has gotten me out of the habit, though, since it always used to remove the extra space.

When my 10th grade teacher introduced double spacing after a period it turned my life upside down.
-
I double space on my iPhone to make ". " So......
-
I do it the grammatically correct way with a double space.
-
I've been taught to single space all my life. I can see how for some people it might be harder to read, without an extra space to seperate sentences though.
-
I was taught in kindergarten that it was double space so I have continued with that for my entire life.
-
Single every time.
-
Single space, like a normal educated human being. Why would I do anything else?

Single.

Edited by asdasdasdasdasdf: 3/30/2013 8:08:34 PMIsn't double space a little old-fashioned? I use single space, but I'm aware that double space is still grammatically correct. I don't think there can be a "more" or "less" when it comes to be grammatically correct so I don't think either is right or wrong it's about preference. Didn't read Foman's post, I guess there is a right and wrong then.

I've been asked to double space before, I'm sure some style manual somewhere's responsible... I just wrote my essay normally and then used the "find and replace" feature to add in the extra spaces.
-
Always best to leave plenty of space after a period.
-
Single space. Never thought of doing a double space sounds unusual. I have heard of people making the period a larger font to make their reports meet a length requirement which is pretty creative
-
I just use a single space.
-
I need to say two sentences to emphasis how I double space, but I can't think of what else to say.
-
I always double space after periods because I prefer how it looks; but I cannot imagine how someone could get so worked up about such a minor thing.
-
one space between words; two between sentences. that's how i've always done it and that's how i'll always do it. :P

Period is American for full stop, apparently. That's weird. Period implies a short length of time before a continuation, which would be a comma.
