I'm noticing this trend in recent ways of thinking. Can we pretty much confirm that this is the most popular way of thinking lately? If something benefits 51% of the population, then it's automatically the right choice

I still follow this philosophy: "The greatest good for the greatest number applies to the number within the womb of time." As in, whatever's best for most people in the long-term. Slightly different phrasing, but a very important one.
