Violence doesn't always solve anything. When I say this, I don't mean a full scale war. I'm on about a school-yard fight or a street fight.
Say someone iniated a fight, would you retaliate with violence? Doesn't it feel good having fought someone, even if you lost the fight, knowing that you stuck up for yourself, despite some of the wounds you may come out with? I find that sometimes it is a much better solution, better than what meagre words could achieve, sometimes.
How about you?

Edited by SonOfTheShire: 3/20/2013 1:07:34 AMIf someone punched me in the face, I'd jump back, clutch my nose, and say, "graaaaaAAAAAAaaaaaRGH!" And then I'd just stand there looking distressed. True story.

Death solves all problems. No man no problems.

The Doctor: Please don't do this. Abraham: Why? Reckon you're quicker than me? The Doctor: Almost certainly not. But this? Lynch mobs. A town turning against itself. This is everything Isaac didn't want.Don't you see? Violence doesn't end violence. It extends it. And I don't think you want to do this. I don't think you want to become that man. Abraham: There's kids here. The Doctor: I know. Who I can save if you'll let me. Abraham: He really worth the risk? The Doctor: Don't know. But you are.

I agree with everything this thread says. I hate it when people go on about violence being no solution to any problems.

I know it solved some issues I had in highschool. Take for instance bullies, for the longest time I ignored them and it just got worse. However after I punched them a few times they left me alone (not the best solution but hey it made my life easier.) I did not feel good after doing it but they ended up leaving me alone after I stuck up for myself so to speak.

No, violence does solve things, but it's always best if you pursue a better way.

Violence ALWAYS solves everything. Its never the best solution. But the issues are solved.

There's nothing that physical violence can solve that other less archaic solutions couldn't.

How can one feel satisfied after fighting/injuring another, even in self defence..?
Say someone iniated a fight, would you retaliate with violence?
I'm sorry but I couldn't help myself laughing.

No, because I'm not a psychopath.
-
I see what you're saying but if you can outwit a bully I think the "feel good" factor is multiplied.
-
Well, self defense isn't necessarily wrong if you do it in moderation. I wouldn't say it solves problems, but maybe prevents them from occurring.

Violence solves everything in my experience.
