I know theres at least a few Mass Effect experts here so help please. Okay trying to make sense of the story of the Mass Effect games
In Mass Effect 1 Saren and Sovereign need to find the Conduit on Ilos, but then we find out it's a back door in to the Citadel. So what was the point if Saren could have just gone to the Citadel without using the Conduit. He knew about the Conduit before he was exiled because it is mentioned in the very evidence that gets him exiled in the first place lol. So did he even know what it did? In fact, when and how did they even find out about the Conduit in the first place? Also how come Saren didnt destroy the beacon on Virmire after using it to stop it being used by someone else when he did just that for the Eden Prime one
Okay then in Mass Effect 2 the Collectors are building a human Reaper but we never find out why until the ending of 3 where it turns out they harvest species so that synthetics wont kill them (lol). My problem with this is why bother with Collectors when they could just wait until the Reapers arrived to do it. Also why would the Collectors try to attack Earth wouldn't they be completely annihilated
In Mass Effect 3 the Reapers attack everywhere in the galaxy except the Citadel first without even bothering to attack the Citadel until it turns out to be the Catalyst. But we learned in ME1 that the entire reason the cycle works is because the Reapers take control of the Citadel shut down the relays and gain info on every species. So why would they just skip that and start fighting a war instead
Now that I come to think of this it seems really weird

Everyone knows that Mass Effect 3 is the best place to start the series! So why bother with Mass Effect or Mass Effect 2?
