In a fight against every other country in the world. Now when i say fight, i mean holding our ground. All our of troops and forces are here and we have to keep everyone else out. The rest of the world would have to take most of the major cities and Washington D.C.
All of the US military from around the world is brought back and deployed around our country. With all the weapons in civilian hands as well, how long would the United States last?

Also, No nukes aloud.

So they would be invading us? Hell, the U.S would probably win unless the foreign powers combined to advance military tech together.

WOLVERINES!!!

Edited by Edmi Wohusee: 3/14/2013 2:10:41 AMConsidering the US has the largest national defense budget by far, I think we'd fare pretty well. I don't know if we would win, but it'd be a pretty good fight. You also need to think about how powerful our navy and air force is, how many missiles we have, and how many civilians with licensed weapons we have.

Can someone please explain to me how the US ranks 5th for Naval power??? I mean seriously, both Iran and North Korea rank higher than us.
-
The world, probable over the course of a month considering how badly Canada kicked their asses in 1812 when they tried invading.
-
Such a war would last years, and America has decent odds of winning.
-
Maybe a week.
Also, No nukes aloud.
God damn it. You did that for me didn't you?
You cannot invade the mainland United States. There would be a rifle behind every blade of grass.
-Isoroku Yamamoto

Not very long. Look at the EU's military, along with every other country in the world. If it was a fight till every citizen in America was dead, then it'd take a while, but if it was just a matter of winning or losing, then the United States would probably surrender.
-
The Canadian Polar Bear Calvary would be a force to be reckoned with.
-
I'd say we lose, after a long while. Asking this question, you're forced to also consider the fact that we have more civillians with guns than any other country, on top of our law enforcement. Regardless of your politics, our right to arms was designed for large scale invasions like this. Capturing the country, as hard as that might be considering our advanced military, is the easy part. Staying in control is much tougher.
-
Not long. Just because of the numbers.
-
Couple months. UK would steam roll you guys on our own.
-
*Allowed. And maybe a week at most.
-
The only way i can see the world crippling the U.S's Navy would be somehow taking out the Norfolk Naval Base But even getting near it would cause way too many causalities as Hampton Roads is full of Military and the shipyard has 15+ Destroyers docked there iirc.
-
We would basically be defeated in a day or two and then for awhile after that it would be nothing but skirmishes as the other countries would try to push further into the country.
-
Imagine if this was made into a game. All people fit for military purpose had to play at the same time, and the armies and their technology would be true to the player's country of origin. It'd be crazy. OT though the US would lose but I think it'd take out a decent chunk of the world's forces and it would take at least a year.
-
It would be interesting to see how long the U.S's Aerial forces hold out Just think about the possibility to see F-22 vs Eurofighter And how would people counter the A-10?

ITT: People who don't understand military strategy, technology, or capabilities.

First, this is a geopolitical impossibility, which is why it's silly to ask this question. However, it's an interesting thought game to distinguish U.S. military capability from that of the rest of the world. Second, as for the economic conditions, the depression resulting from the loss of trade might be offset due to our massive capability to sustain massive industrial efforts. However, it wouldn't be sustainable for a long period of time. Furthermore, a good deal of our military tech is made out of materials present en masse in China. Meaning, we would be a distinct disadvantage in terms of continually producing high tech weapons our doctrine relies upon. Third, currently, the United States has the most power Navy in the world; more powerful than the next 10 navies combined. Our naval capacity would prevent any opponent from reaching. The only exception is Mexcio and South America, but they lack the logistical capability to do it. My guess is that it would take 1 to 2 years to mass the naval logistical powers to attack and another 2 years to take us over.

Couple years.

If it is every country against us I have a feeling we'd end up losing, even if we didn't lose. First off, we'd be invaded from all directions and just to hold the Canadian border against whatever countries invade there would result in the loss of a lot of lives. If we even did end up holding out until the other countries just gave up the civilian casualties would be enormous and so would military personnel. Our resources would be gone and our debt would be even higher than it is now. The U.S. itself would be in ruins, cities on all the borders would most likely be destroyed. Like I said, it would be a lose, lose situation for the U.S.
