Tropes in Anime that annoy you

Figured I'd make another version of this thread. What are some common tropes, cliches, or other frequent occurrences in anime that get on your nerves? Mine are as follows: -Dense male lead who somehow ends up with 3 school girls around his chabudai every meal (shiro, kohta) -Character who's incredibly annoying or useless but made to be a fanservice magnet to compensate (yoshida) -Character runs out the house with toast in mouth when they're late (daisuke) -Amnesiac tsundere who doesn't change overtime and forgets the calm, caring moments (louise, kaname) -Their masochistic male counterparts who continue to take beatings from them (saito). One reason I leally liked Kazuma from Kaze no Stigma was because he didn't take shit from anyone. -(not really a trope) but characters with nasally voices (except youhei from Clannad) -"monster of the week" -all the girls in the cast have really high pitched voices -excessive use of lateral camera panning -when they put 2 or more subtitles on the screen and expect us to read them both in a split second, much less know who's saying what since they all sound the same -When VAs change between dubs -When the show is supposed to be having an emotional moment but the music during or after ruins the mood I'll add more later.

    >"Now I'll show you my true power!" >"Is that all you've got? I was expecting more!" (then followed by #1 usually) >Hyper high pitched voices (whether feminine or adorable creature) >Over-politeness (it's just not realistic) > Stereotypical hot female leads that rely on other masculine characters constantly >Screaming while powering up

  • When someone is half demon or anything.... I really hate it. Also anthros unless they're an interesting animal that's never been done before or often.

Oh, I just remembered another. The "super sickness". The sickness that no doctor can cure, that makes a character bed-ridden for days, or even weeks. The only anime that I was fine with this is Clannad, but that's mainly because it was the first time I had encountered it.

  • Whiny females, like Bulma. Although Winry wasn't bad, I love Winry.

    • Literally all of them. I can't get in to anime because of all these predictable tropes and reused character types and plots.

    • the beach episode. the hot springs episode. main character turning into a whiny bitch after losing. useless side characters used only for explaining attacks/what the hell is going on. that one annoying "straight man" character who shouts a lot and gets way to mad about things.

        • how they feel the need to add intakes of breath and weird non-word exclamations EVERYWHERE in the script >hero meets generic bad guy >sharp intake of breath >"OH!" >"[bad guy name]!" >hero sees pretty girl who is obviously going to be a major plot point >sharp intake of breath >"OH!" >close-up of pretty girl >hero is surprised by something or hesitates for some reason >short intake of breath >"oh" i mean, come on people.

          • No U! villians. Case in point: Aiden from Bleach. To save everyone from a metric -blam!-ton of information I would have to share I'm going to really simplify this: Named characters get special powers, Aiden's power is the ability to control the perception of everyone around him. He can make you feel, smell, touch, hear and taste whatever he wants. Roughly in the middle of the showdown between Aiden and his lackeys and the various secondary characters, Aiden get caught on the getting his ass kicked in end of a 6(?)v1. When they are finished, he cuts them all down in an instant because he used his ability to make them look at an illusion while he switched in one of their allies to take the asskicking. It's the type of character that will take whatever the antagonist/protagonist throws at them and in one motion, invalidates it and returns the favor 100 fold.

Giant boobs which actually grow bigger every episode. The main character always getting owned at first, only to get up again and again, and the villain is surprised every time he does so.

MC who sits at the back of the class, right beside the window. Generic girl who is in love with MC for no reason. When characters talk out loud to themselves.

              • I hate how they have a strong female lead who is suddenly not as powerful as she was in the first 5 mins of the show and has to rely on the male love intrest for everything.

              • Filler. I realize most shows with a coherent plot will make use of filler and/or padding, but it's just so prevalent in anime. Having giant chunks of the series just take up space is terrible for a story. Bonus points when either: A. It later contradicts something B. A new, annoying character is introduced and doesn't go away

                • When male characters constantly get hit by hammers, smash into walls, fall off cliffs etc etc. Why are female characters immune to slapstick violence yet they always deal it out? I wouldn't mind seeing a female character get knocked out with a mallet once in a while
