Speculation is fun, whether factual or through narrative. I prefer the latter and have decided that I will occasionally share what I feel would be an amazing experience in Destiny. These will always be based on what we have heard from Bungie so far, but will also be mixed with desires and ideas of my own. Feel free to add to this story or share your very own narrative!
[i]Imagine taking off from your clan hangar in the Last City with a few friends. You slowly lift off the ground and see your faction members get smaller and smaller until you are at the proper height to kick in the burners. You gain some speed move the nose of your ship upward. You quickly pass the Traveler and give a salute as you continue to increase in altitude. Within minutes, the Traveler is but a dot and you begin to exit the atmosphere.
There has been no hindrance to your flight so far (no screens, no loading, no enemies), but as you reach outer space you know that you must be on your guard. The Traveler is no longer there to protect, and you check your immediate and extended radar before you activate Hyper-Thrust. Thirty seconds later, the engines are ready, and you begin the flight that will take you to one of Jupiter's many moons. You press the button and watch the miracle of automated flight, seeing colors and distant lights fly by at insane speeds. Two minutes later, your ship slows to what seems like a crawl and you gaze at the greatness of Jupiter.
Your destination is also within sight; a blue/grey orb that is lost against the massive Motherly backdrop. The automated system shows the projected flight and remaining distance, but you have changed your mind so you initiate Manual Flight Mode. Your clan's plan remains the same, but you decide landing at Yokatu Base would be safer than your usual spot, so you need a slightly different entry point. As Jupiter shrinks behind its spawn, you see your destination and are appalled at the nature of the scene. At least 35 alien ships are surrounding the city, not only blocking your entry, but endangering your ship/crew as well.
No time to focus on doubt/worry though. Your crew mans their respective stations and you immediately begin carving into the enemy forces. One, two, three ships down; mostly due to the extra firepower your clan is laying down, but your maneuvering and tactical position are also far superior to the enemy's. Four, five, SEVEN down (double kill)! They are regrouping in the distance and presenting a force you would rather not deal with alone, so you nose dive into the city, seeking the base that holds two of your clan's ships left here from your last endeavor. You avoid fire by sheer speed and recklessness and arrive safely under the cover of Yokatu's Fire Towers.
One members stays on board, and two exit, sprinting toward your clan bay. Soon they are fueled, prepped and ready for take-off, and as a trio you rise back above the towers to finish the job....[/i]

It was the adventure for PurpleSloth and PurpleSloth(2), and The Chameleon just happened to overhear our plans and since he was a god sniper we let him come with us. I take a quick look at the radar, three dots. It seems everyone is present. BumblebEE and her crew PreTorius, EXplict93, EXplict93(2) and JuniorGrowler in their destroyer and n00bslayer in his fighter. I tell my team to gear up and get ready. XxxAssassinxxX and The Chameleon get onto their respective Pikes while PurpleSloth and PurpleSloth(2) takes up position on ether side of the exit-ramp to provide security. 100 meters, 50 meters, 25, 10...touchdown. The ramp opens and XxxAssassinxxX and The Chameleon is out in an instant, they start cycling the LZ. PurpleSloth and PurpleSloth(2) walks out and starts to scan the surrounding area for possible threats. - Landing gear out and...touchdown. I hear over the radio. I shut of the engines, get my handcannon and walk out to meet with BumblebEE and JuniorGrowler to discuss our next course of action. To Be Continued...

I really hope they put just as much work as they do in the fps side of things to the space travel in this game.Being able to have dogfights and walk around your ship...being able to do both in a game is certainly new and would be epic.

I hope there will be some form of melee combat available, similar to Halo's energy swords, and it would be even more awesome if you could specialize a character in melee combat and still make it work.

I would like ships that act as mobile bases for a whole team of people. They could act as a respawn point that you can launch drop pods from ODST-style. "My team approached the surface of Venus in The Great Fox, reminiscent of a ship out of ancient video game lore. Along with several other clans, we decided to launch a unified attack on a Vex Citadel installation. Upon entering atmosphere, we were greeted with the shock and awe of anti-air fire making a drop on top of the installation all but impossible. Vex fighters buzzed around peppering the hulls of several base ships on approach. Several of our ace pilots hopped into their personal fighters to thin the flying horde, but there were too many and we were forced to make a drop in the jungle. We dropped our tank crew and a squad of six to a rough landing. Stepping out of my pod, I realized that the tank had dropped farther away than we expected. Rendezvousing with the rest of my squad, we pushed forward to relieve our now-sieged tank in the middle of enemy fire... Rough day."

Your group has been sent on a mission to collect a transmitter in need of studying in the wreckage of humanities fleet in the rings of the planet saturn. You and your group prepare in your stealth cruiser and take off passing by the traveler and fly into space. You are assaulted by a group of space pirates and must outrun them due to the lack of firepower on your stealth cruiser. You quickly speed away and begin to approach the wreckage. You slowly weave through the floating wreckage and finally you see your target. A light assault class cruiser that is broken in half, your pilot slowly descends into the dark cavernous hole and land. As you land, there are booms and echoes of aliens scouring the ship. Your group walks down the ships ramp and turn on your flashlights. the beams of lights in search of enemies that are surely hiding in the shadows and depths of the ship. your squad leader signals for you to find cover around your ship. Slowly you move through the ship. Then as your at the bridge you open the doors and you are greeted with 8 space pirates you quickly dive for cover and toss a grenade into the bay taking out 3 while your teammates set up their bipods and quickly fill the room with fire. Taking out all of the enemies in the bay, you move in and your engineer takes out the transmitter and transfers the data onto his storage chip for personal studying. You and your group return to your ship to find it being..... TO BE CONTINUED There I took a stab at it

I think it would be cool if you could walk around your ship in a fashion similar to Pirates of the Caribbean online. Basically, you could explore your ship while still sailing in the overworld ocean.
