Most people hated Raiden in MGS2. They were pissed about being decieved, he was no Snake.
Fast forward a few years to MGS4 and he's had a complete makeover. He's had a Gray Fox-esque redo and he's changed in character too.
Then in Rising... he's gone crazy. I'm not sure if I like new Raiden or not. Yeah he's gone back into his 'Jack the Ripper' persona but I think I preferred him from MGS4.
Watch the video, he's just... scary!

Wasn't the best first impression (did you say... nerds?) but by the end of the game I'd really warmed to him. I wasn't huge on what was done with his character in MGS4, though. But it's done, and Revengeance looks awesome regardless.

Edited by jaymanxyz2: 3/8/2013 2:17:23 AMRaiden is a great feat in video game characters. Everyone said he sucks in MGS2 - everyone hated him - but Kojima purposefully made him like that. Seeing him evolve - for better or for worse - from the mere player pawn in 2 through MGS4 and MGR is one of the most interesting things I've seen in video games.

MGR is a pretty good game, but this is coming from someone who's never played a Metal Gear game before, and only followed Rising because of Platinum's development. Oh god. I just remembered where I'm stuck at the moment. The bit where in Denver when
Raiden has to fight Mistral and Monsoon again. Mistral II isn't too bad, but Monsoon was a bastard before and he's a bastard again. -blam!- him and his frustratingly long combos and his ability to dodge attacks just by dislocating his body.
He's cool now, in 2 he was annoying. Still not as bad as Rose. God damn that woman was jealous and clingy. Anyway he's still no snake.

My first thoughts of him were that he reminds me of Kakashi. I still need to buy the game.. got no money though.

He is very inconsistent.
