Ubisoft just announced the next iteration of Assassins Creed: Black Flag.
Today’s announcement confirms the title initially revealed by leaked marketing material this week and also expands upon Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot’s comments earlier this month that the newest Assassin’s Creed game features a new hero and time period.
While no concrete details are given in the art, it’s immediately clear that the game will involve pirates, just as rumors suggested a few weeks ago.

The game stars a new pirate assassin and turns its focus to the Caribbean, mixing open-ended ship-based exploration and combat with land-based adventures on a number of Caribbean islands.
I really enjoyed the ship-combat in AC3, so if they carry it over pretty well, this should be fun. I'm interested to see how they make a compelling assassin character that is also a pirate. The Assassins seem like they would reject typical pirate practices. Perhaps he will be more of a privateer for the Assassins, rather than a pirate himself.
