Helping out the homeless? Giving people a place to stand? Doing good in this word? So long as it doesn't cost [i]me[/i] a penny.
This mentality pisses me off. Why do people hate welfare? Because they have to chip in an extra ten or so dollars a month. God forbid you show some compassion. And yet we always toot the trumpet of "poverty is bad", and "goodwill toward all men on Earth". God, that's phony.
Anyone else agree?

Take this as you will, although I mean it in the least rude way possible: You're incredibly ignorant and very naive. People don't have a problem helping out those who genuinely need it. The problem comes when people take advantage of our very liberal welfare system to get free money. This concept isn't difficult, at all, to understand.
