Personally, I was already going to learn code anyways. So what's your thoughts on this?

"Coding" is the boring part of programming or software development. I would argue that being a better problem solver is more important, but I suppose many of those problems can be naturally formulated in the context of programming challenges such as [url]http://projecteuler.net/[/url]. I guess I would caution against getting attached to any one type of language or technology or you might lose sight of what's actually important (and fun, imo) and end up with war crimes like PHP.
