Why? Mainly because Fraps tanks your FPS when playing a game while recording.
Start using [url=http://dxtory.com/v2-home-en.html]Dxtory[/url].
IMO this really is better than Fraps and does NOT tank your FPS. Now...Dxtory does not record aero desktop footage (at least not that I know of). So for that...stick with Fraps.
The reason why I made this thread is because to my knowledge, Dxtory isn't all too well known...and it really should be. So I hope you all download it and try it out.

What if I don't use fraps for recording? I use it just to monitor my frames and benchmarking purposes.

...No, it doesn't tank FPS, my comp runs the exact same as when it does with fraps on. and DXtory sucks IMO, too awkward and cluttered for my liking.
