All I see now are members making threads about being proud to be an atheist or bashing other religions and stating how annoying they are, but I have yet to see a single thread stating "Sign in if your proud to be a Christian, Jew ect...!!!!" or "Atheist are idiots". Yet they are the annoying ones. You guys (you know who you are.) wear your belief like a badge of honor and shove it in everyones faces. and when people don't agree with you, you call them out.
Being an atheist doesn't make you a better person, just like believing in a god doesn't make you a better person. Why can we not get along? I don't come to Bungie.net to see people bash each other. Can't we just accept the fact that we all have different beliefs and don't want other people shoving their beliefs down our throats.
I was "converted" to atheism by a member of this site. He didn't convert me by being rude, telling me I was an idiot for believing in a god. He took the time to answer my questions, provide me evidence and do this with a respectful attitude. Sadly some of you on here just can't seem to do this and you feel the need to go shoving your atheism down everyones throats.
Why can't we just get along? Please open a Coke for me.

The off topic is making me wonder why I even still come to bnet.
-
I just hate how most of us Judeo-Christians are hated on the Internet. Hell, I don't judge people by their religion but others judge me by mine.

Edited by welderman adam: 2/24/2013 5:22:42 AMI'd rather check the "undecided" box than the "atheist" box. Way less hassle than trying to make up BS reason why you "follow" Atheism....
-
I saw atheist and thought " hers my chance". I just wanna say, if you are strictly christian and think that atheists are bad people, your wrong. Some people think that atheists are murderers and thieves, but there not. Atheists are perfectly normal. I'm saying this and I'm catholic. I mean, Adolf Hitler was catholic, not atheist.
-
I feel threatened and oppressed!!
-
I prefer Old Bungie.net's stance on religious/political topics
-
I respect people's beliefs, and it makes me sad to see people from different views bashing each other. I personally don't care if a person is an atheist or not; I have some atheist friends and, although they can be annoying sometimes (like saying "god isn't real" when I say "oh my god"), I still like them. Please though, STFU if you're gonna pull that when I say "oh my god". It's just a saying. :)

Edited by halo: 2/24/2013 2:21:58 PMI completely agree with you OP. The funny thing is, that these atheists are liberals who want total equality and are totally for women's rights, gay rights, against racial discrimination, but when it comes to theists, they bash them every chance they get. I always found it hilarious. As an atheist, I hate my own damn kind. I never even want to tell people I'm atheist because it comes with a very hateful stigma. Have we summoned Mad Max yet? He is the most hilarious poster I've ever seen.

I think you need to realise it's not atheism, it's the person. Arseholes are still arseholes even with the title of Atheist or Christian, etc.
-
See, I like you. I'm catholic, your atheist. In the long run who really cares in what we believe or don't believe in, I'd rather just value you for what you say and not what you believe in. Don't agree with me, I respect your opinion and won't act like a douche even if I know your wrong. Unless its a discussion about soccer, then all bets are off
-
Come to think of it, I have never discussed religion whatsoever on the internet... You are right though, OP.
-
original coke>coke zero and diet coke. deal with it. No but seriously, these religion/anti-religion threads need to stop. its annoying, and those who make them come off as giant -blam!-ing -blam!-s.
-
I'm a Christian and I know that what those people are doing is completely wrong. If you really believe, you know how to act. Shoving your beliefs in someone's face does not help at all. I have done that before and seen the error of my ways.
-
I'm Muslim... ALLAHALLAHALLAHALLAHALLAHALLAHALLAH.
-
That's exactly it. I'm a Christian, but I'm not starting threads about it. It's good to take pride in what you believe, but many believe taking pride in their faith is calling everybody else a nutjob and claiming they are in the wrong. Which is wrong, how ironic. All you are supposed to do is lay out your case, and move on. Convincing people doesn't give them faith, it makes them think it's true, but don't "believe". They are then believing with the mind(because they have rationalized that it must be true) and not with the heart.
-
it's making me ashamed to be human
-
I wish that religious and political discussions were still bannable, but since they'e not, let's all agree to do this. Whether somebody is an Atheist, Christian, Muslim, etc. etc., let's respect their religious or non-religious beliefs and move on. And as for religious threads...don't start a flame war...just have a nice conversation about religions and politics. It's not that hard...it really isn't. So again, just respect what others believe, even if you think that person is wrong. Just respect his or her's opinion and quietly move along.
-
Agreed. Although when people come out with "most atheists are educated people" you can tell its not really true.
-
The same could be said for the athiest side aswell. Don't be naive.

I'm starting to sick of this whole 'if you don't like the thread, then hide it' mentality that forum ninjas seem to favor. They should reinstate the religious/atheist discussion ban and start punishing those people who break the rules. I come to the Flood for some nice random discussion to get my mind off of things, not for political/religious discussion

god is dead.

COLA! I am thirsty now. Also, I don't even really have a religion. I believe in God and Heaven, but I don't go to church or something or am very busy with religion stuff. I believe in God because whenever something bad happens here at home I ask God for help in a pray and he's always listening to me. :)
