You can’t possibly call yourself a gamer if you haven’t heard about Metal Gear; one of the oldest video game franchise that spans even as far back in the late 80’s on the MSX and the NES. However, the franchise made its debut into this century thanks to the 1999 release “Metal Gear Solid” for the PlayStation 1.
The game has at least four main games and many different spin offs and remakes, including The Twin Snakes, the HD remakes and Ghost Babel.
However, recently Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance was released. I personally always wanted to play as the “Cyborg Ninja” since the early days of Metal Gear Solid, when I took up the controller to play the Virtual Missions.
This was revived in Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance – when you reached a certain amount of pre-requisites you would unlock a mode to play as a Ninja and do more VR missions.
Now, what do you think of Metal Gear as a franchise and how do you feel about its future with off-spins like Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance and the upcoming Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes?
My favorite game of the franchise is oddly, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker - the game had a really interesting feeling to it.

Peace Walker's my favorite too, I was so glad they released it in the HD Collection as I would have never played it otherwise. I'm on my second play through of Rising right now, it was a great game although it wasn't as short as I'd liked it to be. Still, playing as Gray Fox is awesome. Can't wait for Ground Zeroes! It's running on the FOX engine so it should look great. The open world element sounds interesting, as does being able to roam Mother Base. Add the fact that you can access it via mobile app it should lead to some interesting things.
