Okay, so the day Destiny was revealed, there was this ViDoc. I'm assuming the "5 people?!?!" was about me saying something about a guild with a total of 5 other people? (In a different thread) In the ViDoc, there's a couple frames where you see 3 players partied up in a menu type thing before they pick what they're going to do. Above their party is a "3/6" squad type thing. So I assume, you can only party up with 5 other players. This is speculation. Now, numerous articles were released when Destiny revealed Destiny. All basically the same, most recalled a story being told by Joseph Staten, and his 'story' with Destiny. He and Jason Jones went on a mission to get some 'loot' from a Dust Palace. The enemy they were fighting were called Cabal, and these guys are big. So they tried to sneak their way in, but alas, the Cabal spotted them and they started to fight. Outnumbered, they were doomed, when a player (not in their party, but due to the magic of their behind the scenes matchmaking system) joined their game (even though they were doing their own thing in the same place), so basically they started to share the world. And so this player helped the 2 players in distress out.

According to the press, Bungie emphasized that Destiny is not an MMO, it is a shared world shooter. Reading this article might clear up Bungie's vision for the game for you.

The leaked documents had already stated it was like an MMO. I'd say the game sounds like Borderlands mixed with some Dark Souls server structure.
