So travelling to different planets has already been confirmed. But how do you think it's going to happen?
Are we going to select a planet we wish to go to and then there's a cut-scene and then we're there?
Or are we actually going to be able to get in our spaceships and steer our way all the way to the planet (which would be awesome)?
I definitely like the second option more. But I could see how it could get a little boring after a while. So maybe have an option to do both? Like, you get into your spaceship and then it asks if you want to fast travel or free steer or something.
What do you think?

It would be so much more awesome to put all that next-gen muscle into bringing entire worlds to life rather than just making the graphics pretty.

There is this game called freelancer, you travel in a ship into the universe, there are docking rings where you land into the planets. THAT would be awesome.

I think i speak for everyone here when i say we would want to fly there manually.

In the ViDoc there's this short moment where you can see multiple planets, after the spaceship went into slipspace or whatever. I think « and hope » there will be both a lazy and a manual travel feature. ■

I want to be able to be able to fly out the the planets atmosphere, have the ships HUD point out different planets, I lock on to a planet, then enter warp drive. Now while in warp drive which is sort of a blurry mess but still a controllable ship, they load the new planet so you come out and can then enter orbit. Bam no loading screens. I'd also love to have random encounters that pull you out of warp drive to fight enemy ships, or if you find something interesting like a rogue asteroid shows up on your radar to explore.

I was just wondering the exact same thing lol http://www.bungie.net/7_Travelling-to-other-planets/en-us/Forum/Post?id=59859279&path=1 I think we press a button to jump to a planet we want to go to it will show us travelling through warp speed (or slip space lol) for a short amount of time and then exit warp speed and we are there.

I think space travel will be a combination of player controlled/cut scene for Destiny 1 and 1.5. I think the transition to Nextgen will bring a fully featured spacefaring aspect to the game(although who knows if the NextGen bump will be for #1.5 or #2). Why I think it will be featured: They have already released several pieces of information referencing hangers being central locations of player interaction, unique ship classes, customizable ships, etc. Why I think it will be gimped: I'm not sure the Xbox360 would be able to handle a game of that magnitude unless Bungie decided to dedicate 10jillion servers to the task of processing the game to assist with load-times, etc. Having a meaningful space component would be a tough thing to include for a studio who has to make a grand scale, single world game which is completely outside of their knowledge base (with all new dev tools).

Edited by LaKillingFrenzy: 2/19/2013 8:44:48 PMWe are going to steer our way there. That was the experiement in Reach. The space battle. Fast travel should cost some currency.
