Things have calmed down enough around here, I think, for me to venture this, my 'Religion Thread'. I wish to bring two items to your attention. The first is a study of Cargo Cults, religions which sprung up on islands across the South Pacific following their contact with westerners in the 19th century, and most heavily after World War II. I have included the first of two short videos (their running time together being 11 minutes) describing Cargo Cults for your edification. I find that looking at Cargo Cults provides a fascinating insight into how religions form and evolve.
The second item is simply a mention in passing of my own faith (apart from my faith in John Frum), which is Pantheism. I believe that god and the universe are one and the same. Essentially, I have a deep spiritual respect for the world that is, as demonstrable by science. I am in awe of the universe, and reverent towards nature. And that's about it.
So those are the two things I wanted to mention, I hope you find them interesting.

I honestly think that is just as silly as the other religions. Let's face it the universe isn't kind to us. Eventually it will destroy itself if we haven't died already. There are plenty of things that could kill us. Losing the ozone layer which is already thinning, comets and asteroids, and easily the most likely of all, ourselves.
